  • Former Muslims from India
     OP - April 17, 2012, 12:53 PM

    Hi Everyone,
    I am a baby Skeptic.
I am looking for Former Muslims from India to build a Network.
I would also like to know if there is any Non Theistic Society/Organisation in India
    Thanks- Jim

By the way, is that an exercise for confirmation.

    Its the same feeling here.
I am suspicious about members, whether they do really exist or id's are just made up ones.
That is why i want to find someone in person whom i can speak to in person.
Coz in this part of the world it's difficult to find irreligious fellow; and revealing skepticism is a risk.

It does not matter if you are from USA or Singapore.
If you are from India and if I can trust you, I will put enough effort to convey and would also speak to you.
Only a person from this part of the world can relate to the position that i am in.
I shall also have a friend someone whom i can share my skepticism

If you are from India, Please put your comments, i would want to know.

    Hi relay.humanism,

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.  Sorry for the paranoid reaction from the posters above.  People here tend to get suspicious when someone joins the forum and (without revealing much about themselves) the first thing they want to do is meet ex-Muslims in real life.

Anyway, regarding your question: I'm Indian by ethnicity (gujarati, to be precise), but I was born and brought up in Kenya.  I live in the UK now.  Unfortunately there aren't many ex-Muslims in India (or who grew up there) on this forum. I can only think of hafiz.

You're wrong. People here can understand and relate to the position of Muslim doubters, dissenters, sceptics and apostates from any society because of their human sympathy, commonality of experience when it comes to leaving and doubting Islam, and because people are willing to listen to nuances and differences in experience when they are a reality.

    dear relay.humanism

You can let go of that narrow thinking now.  We are ALL in this together!
And we come from everywhere in the world.  You would be surprised
how many fully understand your situation who could be from the middle
east, all over SE asia, africa, and even those who left islam from europe
and the USA.  We are all the same!  And all have been through one form
of hell or another because of islam.

Open your mind, sweetheart, and let us be there for you.  I think you
will find its awesome, and surprising where your closest friends might
    be from   Smiley

    Again, a warm welcome.

    Stop this silly paranoia!

I agree with ateapotist. Welcome to the forum, relay.humanism!

    Wot Teapot said.

Seriously you lot, get a grip. This board is for welcoming new arrivals, not for effectively accusing them of being closet jihadis without any evidence at all. It's natural for someone in his situation to want to meet people who think similarly.

Now it's also natural for people in similar situations to be cautious, but you can be cautious without accusing every new bod of wanting to do you in. A better way of handling it would be to just welcome the dude and casually ask for a bit more info about him, and to point out that people may understandably not be willing to meet IRL until they know him better.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your message.
No need to be sorry. It ok to excercise verification as a precautionary measure.

Since you are brought up in kenya and live in UK, i am not sure how much your Indian ethnicity matters.
Cultural influence is most likely to prevail over one's ethnicity.
In many asian countries, its not easy to find a non theist.

I will try to get in touch with Hafiz.
Thanks very much for the lead.
If you find any Indian on the network, you may give them my lead.

    Thanks Jim

    Dear Jinn and Tonic,

I apologise, if you feel that my message is out of short mindedness.
The ALL together is a dream even in a modern century due to cultural and constitutional barriers.

A mind free from from doctrine is already open, sweetheart.
Every former religious person in Asia would like to flock in the West and lead a freer life and that is not easily affordable coming from asian economies. To be specific i am from West of India.

It will always be awesome, if i could talk to you people in person.
I hope you remain there with me and i can make it across the West Continent.
If you find any former muslim within my proximity, you may pass on my information to them

    Thanks for the warm welcome.

I agree about human sympathy and commonality of experience, but culture is different in every region. Initially, i need to speak to someone within proximity.
I am from India. Where are you from.

    Thanks Jim
