Anecdotally I have noticed that gay & lesbian people tend to be more creative & articulate than straight people.

1) What do you think?
2) If yes, then why do you think that is? If no, then why do you think others might have noticed this?
3) Do you object, and feel like questions like this should not be asked because you see this as stereotyping which is dangerous even if it is positive?

I think gay people have gravitated towards certain arts because the nature of their experience especially in the past and even today when they faced such underground lives because of social prejudice, their 'condition' compelled them to express themselves in certain ways to give voice to their experience.

Perhaps being different means that you dont need to think conventionally. However that does not make you more articulate.

Just wondering if the same gene that some think is responsible for your sexuality, may also be the one that makes you more predetermined to these traits or other ones that have been mentioned in the past (e.g. left handle, ring finger being shorter/longer than the one next to it)

Exactly. And thinking unconventionally is what allows you to be creative and original in the arts.

Also, for almost all of history, gays have had to wear masks, to disguise themselves, and so they gravitated towards acting and theatre, that kind of thing. Acting is all about wearing masks.

I can see what you are saying and in part I agree, but my observations are not just based on those I have seen in the media, but those I have met in RL. Obviously this is not a way to measure it, but without any reliable data on the matter, I thought I would bring my personal observations here and see if others noticed the same thing..

I voted no.
I have never met a creative homosexual person.

I think it's a stereotype derived from the fact that some gay men who come out of the closet adopt a flamboyant "in your face" attitude to defend themselves from social bashing by counterattacking close-minded heterosexuals.

Do not look directly at the operational end of the device.

There is a correlation which says that males exposed to a higher oestrogen level in the womb are more likely to become scientists. There is a correlation which says that males exposed to a higher oestrogen level in the womb are more likely to become artists. There is a correlation which says that males exposed to a higher oestrogen level in the womb are more likely to become homosexual.

So, there is also a statistical correlation between male "homosexuality and science" and "male homosexuality and creativity". But this does not mean that there are not many homosexual males that are completely boring and dumb fuckers and that there are no good straight scientists and artists.

Is it almost universal that lesbianism seems to be preferred more than man on man love? I remember my gfs were so excited to see some man on man love with broke back mountain. Turned out guy on guy action wasn't as hot as they thought.

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?
