And don't forget about their contribution to the culinary arts.

I love British food - including curry which is now the signature dish of Britain Afro

I'd like to see more gay guys and girls getting married into the royal family.
Do you think william or harry will be daring enough?  Tongue

That too.   Cheesy  They should be a real reflection of the world around them, not an old fashioned archaic family, never moving forward and steeped in alot of pointless traditions.

What do you usually have with it, squire? I like a little broccoli or just peas on the side. Maybe some carrots too.

And how many bangers constitute a hearty slap up for you on this one? Takes about three good sized bangers at least for me, squire.

The whole royal family is a slave to a stupid tradition - they aren't really free are they? People project all sorts of expectations onto them. So why not get rid of the stupid charade altogether?

At the end of the day who William or Henry marry should be their choice entirely - be it a white, black or asian chick or a why not - a guy.

I agree.  I love England, but I'm no fan of the monarchy.  I don't see the need for it tbh.  It's very outdated.

Totally, but like many many other people who they marry will never be their choice, it will be as you so rightly said, expectations that make that choice for them.

It's a very rare individual who goes against parental and societal expectations.

As far as I know: http://www-sul.stanford.edu/depts/ssrg/africa/boers.html
And you don't see a problem with that? It's all bullshit anyway. Try enforcing it in Brussels! Yaaay! I am committing treason - chop my head off pls.

Imagine Nazis won WW2, occupied the whole world and than passed a law stating that campaining against National Socialism is illegal. Would you take it in the ass or would you fight against it?

Similar camps existed earlier, such as in the United States (concentration camps for Cherokee and other Native Americans in the 1830s), in Cuba (1868–78) and in the Philippines (1898–1901) by Spain under the Restoration and the US respectively[5]. The term finds its roots in the "reconcentration camps" set up in Cuba by Valeriano Weyler in 1897 to quell opposition to Spanish rule in Cuba. During the Second Boer War (1899-1902), the term "concentration camp" was used to describe camps operated by the British in South Africa.[6] Ostensibly conceived as a form of humanitarian aid to the families whose farms had been destroyed in the fighting, the camps were used to confine and control large numbers of civilians as part of a scorched earth tactic.
Polish historian Władysław Konopczyński has suggested the first concentration camps were actually created in the 18th century, during Bar Confederation, when Russians organized 3 concentration camps in Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth for Polish rebel captives, where internees awaited deportation to Siberia. [7]
Use of the word concentration comes from the idea of concentrating a group of people who are in some way undesirable in one place, where they can be watched by those who incarcerated them. For example, in a time of insurgency, potential supporters of the insurgents are placed where they cannot provide them with supplies or information.

Don't get me started on the EU mate, the sooner we are out the better.

So tell me, what is wrong with our present system then, served us very well for an awful long time.

Actually, I live 6 months of the year in Italy, Liguria. When I applied for my codice fiscale, they were super efficient.
Thing about Italians is that they are very laid back and easy to get on with.

Once you have tasted a real Italian pizza, you'll never eat one of those Americanised English ones ever again.
There's only two things I miss out there, decent cup of tea and a bacon sarnie.

What makes concentration camps that were in use during Boer wars unique is unprecedented suffering of civilians on a large scale – something not seen on such scale until that point in time.
The point I was trying to make though is that Britain often acted in a rather unfavourable way and that we should be aware of that so that the mistakes made in the past are not repeated in the future.
This is not to say that British at large are currently in any way culpable for what was going on in the past.

So tell me, what is wrong with our present system then, served us very well for an awful long time.

These exact words are often used by Muslim when they try and defend Islam – I have experienced this myself. Funny don’t you think?
The "UK system" is far from perfect and needs an overhaul however dwelling on its supposed past glory is not going to help anyone.
You do realize that UK is getting more and more marginalized in the modern world and that this trend is only going to worsen – this is why alliances such as EU are so important. And please spare me the UKIP fluff.

You think the pizza you get over there is like the pizza you get here? They may be trying to imitate the style of a NY style pizza, but last time I was there, they still hadn't got it right (given that almost 15 years ago, but even then they had plenty of time to get it right). NY style pizza, which is mostly what people think of when they think of American-style pizza, is quite different from something you'd pick up in Naples or Rome, but it's fuckin delicious and stands on its own merits.

Plus there's New Haven-style pizza, which is considered by some to be the best in the world, and Boston style pizza-- both of which are closer to the original Italian than NY-style pizza. Then there's Philly and Trenton-style tomato pie, and Chicago-style pizza (which actually has a thin-crust variety particular to the area as well), St. Louis-style, Old Forge style. You get the point. And it's not like the kind of pizza you'd get in Italy is totally unavailable here, either.

So do me a favor, until you've been to Santarpio's or Pizzeria Regina in Boston, Sally's, Bar or Pepe's in New Haven, Borda's or Uncle Oogies in Philly, Joe's in Trenton, Connie's in Chicago, or Lombardi's in NYC, please don't dis "Americanized" pizza again.

Panoptic, you're talking through your hat mate, in the 1800s there were cafes all over Paris Called London eateries.

It's obvious that you are extremely anti England and can't give us credit for anything and I wonder if any debate is possible with you. It seems that your idea of debate is vitriolic one liners. Which add nothing. Shame really.

Yes, there was little mercy in wars back then.

The system its self is good, it is some of the people who run it that need to be sorted.

No I don't believe that we are being marginalised at all in that sense and a common market was fine but we are now being drawn into a soviet with no democracy. It is the lefts dream, destruction of nation states, open borders, European armed forces, unelected president and a euro embassy led by an unelected peer.

As for UKIP, or any of the present political parties, no thanks.

lol..you can make many accusations against us but not getting involved in european wars (or indeed any wars) is not a factual one.

I am not talking about 20th century. And I am not talking about "getting involved", but being the battle field. Read up on how continental Europe looked after the 30 years war.
