The Arrow of Time
From Big Bang to Here and Eternity
by Awais Iqbal
Synopsis
This book is just an attempt to understand and appreciate the grandeur of the timescale of the creation, evolution, sustainability, and possible fate of the universe with a special emphasis on the events of the recorded human history of the last 5000 years mostly year by year in color-coded format. The story starts from the time of the Big Bang and connects the dots from the formation of subatomic particles to the evolution of stars and galaxies and life and dinosaurs and Homo sapiens and language(s) and ideologies.
This work is intended for those general readers who sought a method in the madness of existence. Defined by the politico-geographic restrictions, human beings find comfort and solace to live in their respective pseudo-bubbles of religious, economic, and social doctrines and consider these bubbles sacred wholes of existence which are actually parts and this book is an attempt to bring those parts together to give meaning to the whole.
In local bookstores and libraries and colleges and universities, aspirants usually dwell in the details of European, Islamic, Persian, Indian, Middle Eastern, American, African, Astronomical, and Biological histories and so on but rarely join these dots to create an entire map of existence, which has been courageously attempted in this book. Thousand of events and persons have been omitted to make data somewhat palatable but a continuous connection of events will be felt by the readers as the center stage of every time period has been captured. You can call this work "A Method of Study" and choose your own historical events and personalities but can't construct an alternate reality of time devoid of the overall historical essence presented in this work.
The inviting yet formidable volumes of Will Durant's The Story of Civilization led the author to this conclusion that events and personalities should be taken off the shelves of specialists and presented in a yearly manner, separated by 365 days and red-blue dual coloration so that a general reader can relate to them on an understandable time scale. This method has not yet been previously employed by any other book in human history.
This book will prove an antidote for any poison of ecclesiastical, national, or biological claims of superiority and teach human beings, the humble origins of their existence and the fashion by which successful coups have shaped the world around us. "No Censorship" is the core principle of this work and only the agenda of truth has been towed throughout these nearly 800 pages. The author is hopeful that the orientation of the readers towards life will not be the same after finishing or even trying to finish this book.
Since fact is stranger than fiction, this work will leave them startled. The readers do not need to remember the name of every king or philosopher or location mentioned in this book but the entire mood of a particular time period will be infused in their subconscious for the rest of their lives, which is the very goal of this work.
