  • Has anyone watched the movie FOOD INC. ?
     OP - February 16, 2010, 05:02 PM

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eKYyD14d_0
This movie if u actually pay attention and be open minded could probably save your life and your childrens and friends. It takes one person to spread the word about the horrible things that goes in schools meals and restuarants and grocery stores...  Our eating habits not only affects our health but also it affects our environment , also, world  hunger issues that is, to produce a pound of meat an animal must consume between upto ten times that weight in grains that HUMANS and WORLD HUNGRY could have been fed on. People think that animals can be used (abused) but they fail to see the results of these horror activities. Cancer, Cardiac diseases, Obesity, Mad cow disease and so on is associated with meat slaughterhouses, and yet it doesnt even ring a bell that something is wrong. They find answer in medicinal drugs, artificial supression of mere symptoms but not the root of the problems.
This  movie is about people as a whole. We ALL need to smarten up about how we eat and what we support. Which would you rather spend your money on, Organic/all natural foods or prescription drugs and medical bills ?

The helmet is there to keep his head from exploding. From the sheer joy of eating that mammoth burger.

I think 3 cows were butchered for that burger. We salute them with fries and ketchup.

It is probably corn pressed into the shape of meat. Nom Nom!

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

A very grim documentary. Couldn't look at a supermarket the same anymore.

The documuntray " Supersize Me!" killed fast food for me.  When he put the MickyD food in the chamber and it didn't rot because of all the preservatives...nasty.

Haha, I'm pretty disgusting in this regard. I once watched a PETA video about how Chickens are treated in those big factory farms for KFC. After sitting their and watching every gruesome detail I pretty much went to the KFC drive thru within like an hour because all the talk about boycotting KFC got me real hungry. Smiley

    I don't think I have a soul. Tongue

I can watch all the gruesome and disgusting stuff while having a dinner or watch how 'street-food' is so unhygienic and eat it just a few hours later. All that sorts of thing leave absolutely no impact on me.

I'm not really a big fan of PETA, the president being the she-devil and all.

BUT, I get you, I always just shove past the chicken's rights protesters outside KFC in Leicester Square in London to get some delicious chicken wings.

Pffft, they have another thing coming if they think their gruesome pictures are going to put me off meat.

PETA is one of those organizations where I can almost believe in what they say but then they do something absolutely stupid and it makes me ignore them completely.

“ Even if animal research resulted in a cure for AIDS, we'd be against it. ”

    —Ingrid Newkirk, PETA President.

It really makes me think though...if infected with the AIDS virus, would she opt for the cure, or would she die for the cause she has been fighting for?

Yeah, a big FUCK YOU to PETA. Have I mentioned my idea for rounding up vegans and sending them to meat-eating reeducation camps yet? Q-Man for Mao 2010.

Seriously, when someone tells me they're a vegan, I instantly lose some respect for them. They can earn it back by proving they're a cool and intelligent person, but they're definitely starting at a deficit.

hahahaha. You know I hate to judge anyone but I have the same reaction and assessment too. Of course I would draw a distinction for a person who does it out of personal preference vs ideology.

Yeah, PETA sucks, but the website you pulled that from is no gem either.

    Run by this guy-- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Berman

Makes his living setting up front groups and astroturfing to slander the opponents and critics of big corporations.

Not sayin you shouldn't have provided the source or that the source was wrong (in this instance I completely agree with them), just that the source may be even bigger scumbags than PETA.

Hmm, I didn't know Dr. Evil was behind Center for Consumer Freedom! Not that I know too much about him and his shenanigans, but I'm familiar with him and he's much more powerful than I thought.  Thanks for informing me.
