It would be better as a straight text link rather than a checkbox IMO.

putting the "Enable unicode" text between a <label> tag can be helpful, that way the text could also be clicked to check the checkbox

    Done. Smiley

Not bad but it would be good to target the label by giving it a class with cursor: pointer; added to the css. Wink

Is that link/checkbox staying or is it just temporary while you are testing? If it is staying I'll restyle things a little bit.  Afro

Nah, I'd like to remove it soon and enable it by default for everyone. You said you have a good number of browsers. Would be cool if you tested them here. Or did you already?

No I was doing gfx for some other sites last night. I'll run through all my browsers now. I'll edit the ones I've tested into this post as I go through them.

1/ Testing on IE6 running Chrome Frame (which fukn rocks hey): äüö

2/ Testing on IE7 running Chrome Frame: äüö

Couldn't get IE6 and 7 to work without Frame due to a cookie problem causing session cockups. This may be a bug with Frame, since it is still in beta, so I will have to disable it later and try again. If it prevents posting with IE6 and 7 we may have to reconsider but I'll check first.

3/ Testing with Firefox 2: äüö

Ok so that means all versions of Firefox will be fine.

Ok deleted the other posts. Firefox 2 is fine. I must have forgotten to click the Unicode link on the previous edit. Tongue

    Safari 4: äüö

If Firefox 2 is ok I can't see Safari 3 screwing up either.

    Opera 10: äüö

Great. Thanks for testing. Can we consider the testing phase to be complete?

Hmm, IE6 wont let me disable Chrome Frame without completely uninstalling it and I'm too lazy at the moment. However it seems that themes without the frame meta tag will bugger posting if Frame is installed.

This is a test on Mystic Multi with Frame disabled in IE7: äüö

Ok that works. It seems there is a bug in Chrome Frame (not surprising at this stage) that screws up sessions if Frame is enabled but the theme lacks the Frame meta tag. So it looks like as long as I make sure we have that meta tag in all our themes things should work for everyone. I can add it to the other themes easily. I just hadn't bothered doing it yet. Afro

Also, enabling Unicore could that not be a security problem?

But you just posted "ł€¶ſðđ}]ŋ“„µöäü" above without a problem.

Also, enabling Unicore could that not be a security problem?

Huh? Why should there be any security concern? The characters aren't even stored in a Unicode encoding (like UTF-8) on the server. They get converted to HTML entities (e.g. "&#109;") before the post is submitted, so only ASCII characters are stored in the database.
