  • So you want to play with personality tests?
     OP - December 27, 2009, 10:37 AM

Ok, here's one for you. This one is actually serious. It comes from a book called The Authoritarians and gets some interesting results when used as part of research. Note that the scoring for the test is a little complex, but nothing too nasty. Just basic arithmetic. It is best to make a note of your answers as you go.

There is an online readable PDF of the whole book here. The first test starts towards the end of Page 10.

By the way, there is a second test on page 164 and a third on page 166. The whole book is well worth reading too.  Wink

Good stuff! I actually came across this test and the book a year or two ago, read the first two chapters of it and liked it a lot. Might give it a go again, I guess.
Redid the first test just now and scored 24 which is pretty much the same score I initially got.

Yeah I expect people here will generally score lower than the average given in the book.

Congrats Solara, your IQ score is 1 point lower than mine. Just north of room temperature.

I didn't really like this test. I scored 20, which is the lowest possible score. But it was definitely biased, and some of the questions were loaded. Obviously either written by a Christian or for Christians. Government and religious authorities lumped together (#5)? People who attend church regularly are the highest example of "good and virtuous" (#6)? Homosexuality is akin to feminism (#21)? Not to mention the test assumes the participant believes in god.
