    I'm an ex-Muslim from Canada. Atheist/agnostic now. Was born into a bengali family in the mideast and moved to canada at about 11-ish. Was a pretty devout and active Muslim until about 2004 when I decided I couldn't put up with the bullshit anymore and just dropped that Islam game like an over due toilet visit.  dance

    I have an account called "Kafiristani" at the Richard Dawkins forums.

    I only told 1 or 2 liberal friends in the Muslim community and pretty much told them to spread the word to everyone else. Which they did and so I didn't have to deal with them myself. Needless to say most of my muslim 'friends' promptly ditched me.

    I never came out and told my parentsand family point blank, but after noticing my sudden departure from praying 5 times a day to 0 times a day they were initially puzzled and then alarmed. At first they thought I was going through a "phase" but 5 years later they pretty much know I'm more than just non-practicing - I've dropped plenty of hints along the way. Luckily they are liberal bengali types, so aside from my mom telling me to "pray sometimes" I get not much grief. I don't missionize my atheism blatantly among them, but I do nudge and mock them occasionally.

    Haha! I love my mom, but damn I can't help it sometimes either. Dunno if you're desi but desi muslim moms are really the most gullible and innocent types often.

    I'm working and moved out of my parents for a while now so I mostly hang amongst the kuffar these days but I do visit back home regularly and it's always a blast at extended family events (most of my uncles/aunties are in canada). I have some hardcore fundy uncles and I troll and mock the living shit out of them every chance I get.  Cheesy  dance

    Hey fellow Canook!

    I came to Canada around your age as well, from way out on a remote Pacific peninsula.

    I'm now enjoying the frigid Canadian winter and the 2 months of solid summer around these parts. A blessing really.
