  • A bit late but here it goes...

Hello to you all.  Since I was posting regularly, I decided that it would be good to do what the others do and give you a little background about myself.  When it comes to religion and faith I am agnostic, I still cannot make my mind up whether a god actually exists or not.  I come from a Catholic background and culture.  I have never really been religious as a person.  If you want an idea, I once got into a lot of trouble for sipping some of the church father's wine (what he used during mass, it was quite good) as a child.

Unlike most members of this forum I have never been involved in Islam, although I have had quite a lot of contact with it and certain events both international and local really made me think about it, and about other religions in general.  Practically I think they are all a load of bollocks in the end.  Still I do like the emphasis and the promotion of family life and community cohesion that come about with religion.

It is good to see other agnostics and non believers from other cultures and religions.  We can learn so much from each other once the burqa of religion is removed from the mind. I've always liked talking to people from different backgrounds and cultures.

"Modern man's great illusion has been to convince himself that of all that has gone before he represents the zenith of human accomplishment, but can't summon the mental powers to read anything more demanding than emoticons. Fascinating. "

One very horny Turk I met on the net.

Welcome, but note religion does not have to have a monopoly on these good things either

This is true. It doesn't preclude them (although it can at times) but it isn't a requirement for them either.
