    Dear friends,

    I'm very pleased to invite you to the 1st anniversary of the London Ex-Muslim Meetup Group.

    We started this group a year ago with the idea of providing an option to ex-muslims to meet and socialise with other like minded ex-muslims. We started out with 4 people who would hang out at British Library once a month and now have grown to over 31 members meeting regularly at least once a month for a general catch up and other activities, be it a drink at the local, going to talks and debates, watching movies, and even a camping trip!

    This is only a beginning for us but we are making progress and we would love to share our little success with all our friends.
     
    Please join us on the 17th October 09 in Central London at 1pm.

    It will be the second year anniversary of this forum too, next month.

    I really must arrange a meet up to celebrate it as we all met up last year to celebrate it too.  dance

    Hi Berbs,
    Yes I've been to the meetups a few times - they're good!

    The main difference between the Meetups and CEMB is that the Meetups are intended to be purely social gatherings - a few drinks and some good conversation.
    With CEMB we try to be more active in directly tackling political Islam, etc.

    It's a good crowd of people and I'm sure the Anniversary drinks will be fun.

    Hello Ziaz, I am based in North Africa. Origin of the human race! You guys left us here and gone in search of a better life some 2.5 million years ago. Some of you gone to Asia and some gone up north to Europe. I guess you thought that it is a bit hot for your taste!  whistling2

    From what I recall our race is something like 200-300 thousand years old, but dont quote me on that.  Our ancestors are much older, but I am talking about our current race that can interbreed with each other (i.e. post-neanderthal)

    Yeah I read 200,000 too and we started in East Africa. How the hell to 'Adam and Eve' believers explain that? I know there are some Muslim scholars now like Usama Hassan who accept evolution and say God helped the process and Adam and Eve is a metaphorical story.
    Take the Pakman challenge and convince me there is a God and Mo was not a murdering, power hungry sex maniac.

    Sorry O K there was a four part documentary on telly recently called The Great Human Journey which discussed this topic in detail. The presenter argued the case for about 200000 years.
    Take the Pakman challenge and convince me there is a God and Mo was not a murdering, power hungry sex maniac.

    You're welcome to come down - Ive been to them twice, and they are great fun.  I did not know what to expect, but after the meetup I realised exmuslims come in all shapes & sizes!

    Koool. So its predominantly just a social gathering. If it is I might come down next year or something. I don't know right now if I would class myself as an ex-muslim yet but I'm pretty sure I think like you guys.

    Indeed meeting peope face-to-face rather than through the impersonal medium of the forum is an enlightening and interesting experience!

    I'm not sure whether Hass knows or not... I'll PM him to make sure.
