naija... my stock was worth 153 dollars per share on 9/10/01
the next day, my stock dropped to 4 dollars per share.
In ten years, the highest it ever got again was 9 dollars
per share.  Lost my retirement for damned sure.
Started buying gold and gems after that.  hard, cold,
    tangible investments.

^ but its more reliable investment than such things as stocks which is security. Gold and other metals are the few investment vehicles that brings returns to you in a long run. It appreciates every ten years or so. By the way, where did you hear that Gold is not in demand?

Here is the chart of Gold Price from 1975-2011
    http://www.kitco.com/scripts/hist_charts/yearly_graphs.plx

Imagine you bought one ounce of gold at $58 in 1975,36 years later that one ounce of gold is valued at $1758. Imagine you bought more than one ounce, do the math

Jnt: Stocks arer sanitized investments that follows guidelines of SEC(Securities and Exchange Commission).it can appreciate or depreciate depending on any factors. Personally for me if i want to invest in stocks, then i have to check the company details such as financial statements and their management to see if i can trust the company or not before i buy their stocks. Its something i recommend for one to do so rather than let the stockbroker do the work for them by speculating. Stocks are not always reliable.W

^ very true, though I never said it wasn't in demand, just that demand for it was decreasing, in an article it
stated that demand fell by 17%.
