  • Am I the youngest here? : /
     OP - May 26, 2009, 12:52 PM

    I was on here like a year ago... But I didn't really had time for online discussions, since I just started my senior year at high school (huge amount of homework =.=).
    But now I have just one exam left (Economics) so I'll have enough time to irritate my fellow ex-muslims. ^_^

    I'm 17 and I live near Amsterdam (Jep, the one in Hoe-land, no I don't smoke weed... xD) and I'm going to study Mediatechnology next year.
    Please don't ask me when or why I renounced "my" faith.
    I just didn't believe in Muhammed.
    I'm REALLY proud of my roots and I love Morocco.
    But I just can't stand the idea that people on the street here in Holland think that I'm a muslim, just because I look like them... -_-"
    I still believe that there is A god... But I just can't understand why someone married to a 9 year old should be the messenger.

    That's about it I guess... xD
    Questions are always welcome...

    And also: My English is pretty good for an Arab from Holland... xD
    But it certainly isn't perfect. Please report any mistakes... ^_^
    You'll really help me...

    Welcome Farid -  have you told your parents your views, and are there many ex-muslims from your part of the world?  Also there have been a few threads discussing Gurt Wilders, what are your views on what he stands for?

    Thanks!

    @IsLame
    Call me a coward, but I'm an ex-muslim for like 2 years now and I still haven't told them yet...
    I don't really care if they'll be dissapointed in me or anything... But I still have to live with them for a few years.
    I'm going to tell them as soon as I can live on my own...
    They know I critisice Islam and "the prophet" though...

    A man called Ehsan Jami tried to start a Dutch version of the council here, but it failed tremendously...
    We stopped after like a year because nobody wanted to join...
    So I guess I'm pretty unique... xD

    Geert Wilders has a good and a bad side...
    Sure he's against islamization of Holland and the rest of Europe.
    But I just feel that somewhere deep inside he's against non-muslim Moroccans too.
    I got banned from his Hyves profile (social community here in Holland), even though I was just helping him...
    But I really don't understand why he's being prosecuted and why he was refused to enter the UK.
    I think he would be perfect for a job as minister for integration... But certainly not as prime minister. xD

    Hi Farid - and welcome  grin12
    Just spent the afternoon today with a Moroccan guy who convinced me that Moroccan cuisine was the best in the world - made my mouth water...

    Why didn't the equivalent Dutch site get any more support do you think? I'm intrigued - Maybe it wasn't much fun or didn't have such great smileys as this one!!

    @Aggur

    Moroccan cuisine indeed is the best in the world... Cool
    Couscous is my favorite. If you ever get the chance..... Wink

    I think the problem was that we focused more on the negative sides of Islam instead of ex-muslims.
    I'm really impressed by this site. I can't find ANY post of an angry muslim saying he's going to look us up and kill us...
    Maybe a tip for the admins... Try to keep "Ex-Muslims" the main subject instead of only talking about how bad Muhammed was (even if it's simply the truth xD).

    I'm thinking about starting a new one after the summerbreak...
    I'm sure there are other Moroccans here with some brains... xD

    @IsLame

    I knew that there was a German version of the council...
    But then I got curious and started looking for other versions...
    Then I found this site and I just fel in love with it... xD

    Yes, I think we have got the balance here just right. I think certain sites (that claim to be 'grassroots ex-Muslim sites' lol Wink ) are simply obsessed with trying to "destroy Islam' and have little or no empathy with ex-Muslims themselves - other than to use them as a means to destroy Islam.

    I think this site is first and foremost here for ex-Muslims - to offer them their own refuge - a place to get support from each other and know they are not alone - as well as discussing the issues we have with Islam/why we left etc...

    Do you think they really wanted to, or was it more a case of economic and social factors that placed them in the community they are now?

    I'm sure my ex parents would have chosen better schools and areas if it wasn't for their economic situation, but then again their economic situation was within their capabilities of improving.

    My family is actually pretty wealthy (wealthy, not rich xD), so I don't think it was for economical reasons.
    I think it was more because my whole family already lived here...
    There are like 40 houses in the street I live in... 4 of them are owned by someone in my family (uncles, aunts and a niece).
