    If both people (or more, if you're into all that!) who are doing it are consenting, than how can that be punishable by law.

    Why the hang up with sex...its a bodily function same as any other thing our bodies do?

    Anyhow...sex before marriage should only be condemned (if thats what your moral values tell you needs doing) if the one of the partners is underage or not able to concent for whatever reason...or if one or both of the partners is married...to someone else. I dont believe in child marriages..especially just because the prophet did it...and I dont believe in policing of people and what they do with their sexual organs as long as its between two concenting adults. I certainly dont believe people should loose their lives all because sex took place for whatever reason (this excludes rapists and pedophiles obviously...from my point of view).

    God seems very hung up about sex...which I find ironic since He "created" us to want sex almost as much as food and water...and for some people I dare say more then those two  things.

    In my opinion...the only immoral sex is pedophilia and raping...and should be dealt with harshly....adultery is a shame but not in the same league as far as Im concerned.  Divorce should be sufficient if the offended party wants that...

    Doesn't anyone else find it ironic that a man who was absolutely obsessed with sex preached sexual conservatism that is actually quite impractical to his followers. Muslims are technically not allowed to even talk to somebody of the opposite sex who is not their mahram or husband or wife. Even cousins! I just think this was too easy to say for a man who had eleven wives (even though he told people that they weren't allowed more than four) and countless sex slaves.

    You are missing the point. It is not atheist morals to have sex with as many people as possible. What Berberella was saying was what people do in private should not conncern anyone else, as long as they are concenting.

    And the effect of all this sexual conservatism? Muslim men are arguably far more obsessed with sex than non-Muslims. (Anyone who has seen Muslim/Arab men on Edgware Road will know this, and I've never seen phone booths so stuffed with prostitutes' business cards, as on that road.)

    Agreed, what if marriage faded away?  people would still partner up, some would mate for life some wouldn't, it would just lack a certificate of approval, moral approval that people don't actually need to validate their feelings.

    But weddings can be fun yes In the UK less and less people are getting married each year. Many are choosing to cohabitate. I'm personally in favour of this. Weddings are pointless and cost ridiculous amounts. I'm still getting married though Tongue I want my dream wedding.

    I've had the wedding before, it wasn't a dream wedding but then again I was never the kind of girl who fantasised about the big day, it was just like a vague idea.

    If I ever get the video converted to a dvd I'll upload it and show you.  Cheesy

    I'm not sure I want to get married again, tbh I don't even think I could live with someone again, but if in the amazing miracle I do meet someone able to live with me and my "issues", or who actually breaks through my massive walls of defences, then I would like a simple wedding, under a willow tree.  A handfasting ceremony where we just declare our love to each other infront of people I care about.

    When i was a kid, I used to think "If you love the other person... why would you need someone to make it official?  and if you don't love someone, they you wouldn't need to get married in the first place".  I think the question largely still stands haha.  At least in my own mind.

    But I'm not down on marriage.

    I've always envisioned my dream wedding to be in a lovely garden with lots of pretty plants, a small river/stream thing and fountains. It has to be a lovely sunny day too, and I'd love to have a pretty white dress that isn't overdone like traditional asian dresses. I doubt Britain is the best place to have this sort of wedding with our unpredictable weather Tongue So not sure how this will pan out in the end.

    EDIT: Actually forget that fountain, I want a waterfall instead!

    Why does declaring oneself an atheist automatically make you an immoral person wantonly having sex with everyone you come across  Huh?

    i agree with the other poster...Ive never seen a group of men as a whole so goddamned obsessed with sex as Muslim men. Everything they "understand" about Islam is garnered to their own personal sexual satifactions it seems. Women are meant to be controlled simply so they are easily and readily available for the man ...Islam means submission...submission to man and his Holy Penis  yes
