    Yup, since I've been threatening to dump the 10,000 old pm's that are currently stored in our database I have installed a nifty toy that will let you export them to your desktop in html format.

    This means you can view them in your browser like a normal web page regardless of which operating system you run (meaning you don't need Word or Office or whatever).

    You can choose to save a single pm using the "Save pm" option at the top right of each message (between Reply and Remove) or you can choose to export your entire Inbox or Outbox by using the "Export all PMs" option in the left column (under Inbox and Outbox).

    It should be straightforward but if there are any questions throw them in this thread.  Afro

    how do i view my sent pms? i might be being a  bit thick here but i dont seem to see an option to look at the replies i have written. Huh?

    Did you tick the box to make copies in your Outbox?  If not, there will be no record of them, (unless the person you sent them to has kept them).

    Profile >> Modify Profile >> Personal Message Options >>  Save a copy of each Personal Message in my outbox by default.

    I should have installed this export mod a while back but never thought of looking for one like it.
    I'll definitely be reinstalling it after this place is upgraded to SMF 2.

    By the way, for anyone who is using it I found the formatting as supplied was bog ugly, so I played with the css to improve the looks of the downloaded pm's. If anyone thinks it could be further improved suggestions are welcome.

    Note that images in the styling itself aren't possible, so it all has to be done with basic colours.

    When the forum shuts down. Provisionally scheduled for the weekend of the 14th/15th this month.
    At the moment I'm not 100% sure when the software will be available but that is looking like the right timeframe.

    Not at all. The last lot of "archiving" was a fuckup. What will happen is that a lot of the archived threads will be merged back into the forum. Some (the ones 99% of people will never read again) will stay archived but our content here will roughly double.
