  • Hi there
     OP - January 16, 2009, 08:48 AM

found this site by accident like many others here, but i'm very happy I did. It gives me comfort to know I am not alone in my experiences. I have many friends who know and support my beliefs but I never met anyone who had to face the same choices I did, so this is a refreshing haven for me. I must give my thanks to the creator Smiley

hope youre all doing well, I am actually from Canada and its quite late but what can I say..

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I remain.

As the comment she/he left on my blog is public anyway, I'm sure she won't mind me posting it here. I think her comment and the quote she selected make it pretty certain she is an ex-Muslim.

The problem is that one cannot choose to believe. Either one does or not and if there is a God, the last thing he would have wanted me to do was to pretend to believe in something that I didn?t. It was quite a relief when I finally admitted to myself that I no-longer believed in Islam.

However the fact that I no longer believe in Islam doesn?t mean I have suddenly turned into a hater of Islam. I know that Islam brings a great deal of guidance, comfort and worthy values to the lives of millions of people. I know that most Muslims are good and decent people. How could I possibly hate Muslims when my family are Muslims?

(Belladonnasix said) i never thought I?d hear these words coming from another. it comforts me to know that i am not alone in my way of thinking, and that many share my experiences. thank you for sharing yours.

I like the piggies. and dont worry, I am not so easily frightened Wink

I dont know whether to call myself an ex-muslim or not. some might say yes, because I am born into a muslim family. but at the same time, I dont remember ever consciously accepting the faith anyways. I never did believe in it, just did as told until I was old enough to question myself and the world around me, which was quite early for me. So basically I just never accepted the faith as my own.

I saw it in graffiti on a brick wall, in a book, lol. so I'm not quite sure where its from, but it always stuck.

Well, i think the reason why this passage stuck was how ambiguous and sombre it is. To me it expresses the idea of a city that seems to have a life of its own. and at night, the time of shadows and uncertainty, it stretches itself out from a slumber and breathes life. then comes the storytelling; the walls speak of strangers, thoughts and feelings that are from another place, a place that is also a another time altogether (hence, another night). this concept of fusing time and space adds to the ambiguity and mystery that i love so much.
