Heh. If that BS is true, I'm still glad I voted for him. "If you're not cheating, you're not trying hard enough." We got a president who puts 110% effort into all his endeavors. Cheesy

Yes, all this talk about Obama from some of the forumers here.  It's only a week since he's been elected and they are already dissecting him without giving him a chance.  I don't see anything wrong with the man as yet.  He is a good father and husband and seems to have a good heart and temperament.  So all this talk is getting boring.  I know it's my fault for reading this thread though.

I think that's pretty much what most of us here have said.  The one or two McCain supporters on here cannot be blamed for their disappointment, I suppose.

That's true.  I am referring to forumers like Baal, Diotima and some others.  And that piece about the hypnotic powers of his speech.

He is a good father and husband and seems to have a good heart and temperament.

    However, this is irrelevant.

That may be true, but it indicates that he is not a bad person.  There is a lot to be said about a good father and it shows that he cares deeply for his family which means that he wants a good future for them and their future depends on how well he does it as a president.

Yes but you or I don't know for a fact he's a good father do we? Obviously that's the image they'll project, they're hardly gonna advertise him never being around his kids for more than ten minutes a day, are they? He may me a good father, hope so, but I wouldn't believe everything you hear. McCain, though,  when he's not making oven chips, drinks children blood and wanks over pictures of bed-ridden old ladies, so it's all good.

Lol.  I don´t think McCain is a bad person but his policies suck.  About Obama, I would be very surprised if he wasn´t a good father, just looking at his two girls and the way they look at him.  Anyway it´s early days to know how well he will do, but I am happy that he beat Mc and his same old nonsense.  Let´s think positively  Smiley

Liberal Democrats are going to wake up from their sadomasochistic, anti-Palin orgy with a very big hangover. The evil genie released during this sorry episode will not so easily go back into its bottle. A shocking level of irrational emotionalism and at times infantile rage was exposed at the heart of current Democratic ideology -- contradicting Democratic core principles of compassion, tolerance and independent thought. One would have to look back to the Eisenhower 1950s for parallels to this grotesque lock-step parade of bourgeois provincialism, shallow groupthink and blind prejudice.

And there was a lot of hatred from the Repub supporters too, as well as idiotic adulation for the Repub candidates (or Palin in particular). That doesn't mean everyone who cast a vote for either side is an idiot. Get over it. The world isn't going to end because of this election. The next administration is unlikely to be much worse than the current one and quite likely to be better IMO.

I finally get it Dio, you aren't so much against the cult of Obama, but more pissed off that people don't LOVE Palin. I know you won't admit it, but it's the only logical reason you would hate the prez so much.

Don´t know her enough to say. Unlike the hysterical "Burn-the byotch" crowd, I don´t think her being pro-life is enough to hate her (quite the opposite). If Camille Paglia thinks her good, and the treatment she got from the aforementioned crowd a shame, that says a lot, though. Paglia doesn´t share Palin´s views on most things.

You seem to know Obama enough to hate him. I think the reason most people were put of Palin was because McCain keeling over and dying in the next couple of years is on the cards. and someone with such inexperience stepping into the shoes of the prez is terrifying, especially someone with some rather dubious views. She should get more slutty for the next election and Obama should turn Rasta, that would brighten the world Smiley

For your information I am neither left nor right but actually quite outside politics.  I just choose to the optimistic about Obama.  He may not do miracles but could some good and of course, his administration will be better that the current one.

I think the issue of abortion has you all worked up.  To my knowledge, Obama's take on this is to support roe v wade, which means that women can choose to end a pregnancy before the baby is viable.  I think that situation is always unfortunate and tragic, but women have done for ages in hiding with disastrous results.  It's not a decision to take lightly but that's the reality of it.  I love babies and I think that is an unfortunate situation and I agree that some people are careless, that's why Obama has proposed better education to prevent these tragic cases.  Also, he is against abortion in late pregnancy, except when the life of the mother is in danger.  I think that a woman has the right to choose whether she lives or dies, don't you?

By the way, are you also against contraception?  And what do you think of women priests?

No, it comes from Camille Paglia - a contrarian publicity seeker who will say anything to be controversial.  Anyway, no matter who it comes from, it is a very accurate description of those who wouldn't vote Obama because he's an Ay-rab.

You 'hate' him just as much as you say I 'worship' him. I'm using your language, as I thought you might appreciate it.

The reason Obama may seem as though he's being greeted as a Messiah is for two reasons, one - the world breathed a collective sigh of relief when the old man was trounced and two, for the first time  there is someone in the White house who is different to the old white boy network and that fact alone is enough for people to be optimistic that things might be done differently at long last (I doubt it, but there's a chance), particularly in American foreign policy. Try and put yourself in the average american's shoes, Bush has stirred up such anti-american feeling, my yank friends hate it, and I know what they feel being English, and probably you too have reasons to dislike the way a a leader can turn all of it's citizens in to a cliched stereotype. McCain would have just continued that. I bet you change your stand in a few years from now.
