So nobody else going to even try and make it?  finmad

Sorry dear, not enough disposable income this year.  wacko

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I remain.

Nope, East coast to West coast... at 5 miles or so above the speed limit. Slept 2 hours about halfway.  Smiley

I am seriously considering coming. If it would cost less then £150 there and back, and if no-one questioned my appearance/looks dress sense etc, and I was guaranteed no pictures would be taken without consent, and only forum members addend. I just don't talk much irl in new groups.

Woops ... a little late into this thread to congratulate the Council of ex-Muslims and all members here on the first anniversary of the forums. But I do anyway. Well done on a constructive -- and fun -- group. Quite amazing how much some folks have contributed in such a short time. And it's pretty obvious, reading all the posts over the months, that many people facing problems with difficult decisions have been helped by your sound advice, common sense and general informal friendship.

For some time, I thought I might be intruding if I joined in, because I'm not an ex-Muslim. Reading you folks, though, has shown me that only by leaving a religion behind (doesn't matter which religion) do we give ourselves the chance to belong equally to the same community. Only freedom from imposed, artificial herding can really allow us to enjoy the natural unity that really matters to humankind.

I realise, of course, the continuing need for a Council for ex-Muslims -- and those admirable organisations that aid those struggling loose of other religions -- but it's important to realise that by leaving something behind, you become part of something else: ex-Muslims, ex-Christians, ex-Hindus, secular Jews, deists, agnostics, atheists, humanists all make up a growing community of free-thinkers, unafraid to declare their non-acceptance of the divisive dogmas we call religions.

    Cheers. Neil

I was just going through the 'are you an ex-Muslim' thread Berbs started a while ago and came across this from All_Brains. It pretty well sums up what I was trying to say above ... but much more effectively:

I am an ex ex-Muslim. This does not mean that I went back to Islam, it means that I don't conduct myself under such label anymore. I am now a free human!

Good going, Brains. Welcome to the club. Neil
