India’s allies told to work for restoration of occupied Kashmir statehood says news
    Quote
WASHINGTON: The International Crisis Group (ICG) has urged India’s international allies to “strongly encourage it to restore Kashmiri statehood, free detained politicians, and end security forces’ abuses against civilians”.

The ICG, a global think tank, advises India in its new report to re-engage with held Kashmir’s political class and end security forces’ abuses in the occupied valley and urges New Delhi’s “international partners should press it in that direction”.   The report — “Raising the Stakes in Jammu and Kashmir” — warns that India’s recent actions have increased the “risks of an incident setting off an unintended military escalation” between the region’s two nuclear powers.

The ICG asked both India and Pakistan to dial down bellicose rhetoric and respect a ceasefire they agreed to in 2003.

The ICG encourages both states to review the measures taken during 2003-07 to promote peace in Kashmir and between India and Pakistan, including an agreement to a ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC).....

Well I agree with that ICG and I hope Indians also start thinking about that.. Having their own state is important with in the country and it also goes to Pakistan., Pakistan must make many more states with in the country and    that is written by  Anwar Iqbal

    anyways  let me read this

    Quote
Pakistan’s two-pronged strategy on Kashmir: A British perspective  by  Paul Stott  Published : February 6, 2021,

Many British MPs blunder into the Kashmir question, often with little or no understanding of who they are dealing with, and ignorant of Pakistan’s two-pronged strategy.

Events both in Pakistan and Europe this week re-focus our attention on the very deliberate strategy Pakistan pursues both on Kashmir and against the country it considers its eternal enemy—India

Firstly, consider the mess which has unfolded in Islamabad. Having been in diplomatic isolation in the Trump era, Pakistan will have hoped that the arrival of US President Joseph Biden, afforded an opportunity to rebuild its relations with Washington DC. Instead, the first memos about the Islamic Republic to cross the new President’s desk will have concerned the subject which dominated discourse on Pakistan when Biden served as Vice-President—terrorism.
    Quote
The successful appeal of Briton Omar Saeed Sheikh for the ghastly 2002 murder of American journalist Daniel Pearl, and the outrage the case evokes in America, puts Washington under considerable pressure to extradite Sheikh for trial in the US. India will also be watching this case closely. In 1999, Sheikh was in Indian custody for the kidnapping of western tourists, when Pakistani intelligence collaborated with the Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HuM) group, to seize an Indian airlines flight from Nepal to Delhi. The airplane was then flown to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, where any rescue operation by the Indian authorities was impossible. Sheikh, along with HuM leader Masood Azhar, was released from Indian prisons in exchange for the lives of the hostages.

On release, Azhar and Sheikh reverted to type—Azhar forming a new terrorist entity, Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM, the Army of Muhammad) which conducted attacks in India at the direction of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency. Sheikh allegedly lured Daniel Pearl to Karachi, where he was abducted and murdered by Al Qaeda. The video recording of his beheading, for propaganda purposes, was to start a ghoulish trend copied by jihadis worldwide. Whilst no one expects Pakistan to hand Sheikh back to India, the US surely cannot accept a scenario where Pakistan allows Omar Saeed Sheikh to freely walk the streets?

Over Kashmir, Pakistan does not just rely on the brute force of groups like the JeM. Whilst the Islamic Republic ignores Kashmiris in the Shaksgam Valley it ceded to China in 1962, or the Aksai Chin territory China took from India the same year, it agitates internationally over the Indian union territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

In Europe, this means well-funded campaigns often draped in language ill-suited to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan—that of human rights, democracy and freedom of speech.

This week has seen a series of online conferences in Denmark and the UK organised by the Tehreek-e-Kashmir (TeK) political group. Here, there is no mention of the JeM or the purging of the Kashmiri Pandits; instead, rhetoric focuses on attacking the Indian government and trying to raise the Kashmiri question to one of international crisis.

In the UK, TeK held a “Kashmir Solidarity Conference” this week, which consisted of three online meetings, each with an extremely long list of speakers. With TeK leader Fahim Kayani from Birmingham in the Chair, the first brought together TeK activists with aging representatives of Britain’s tiny revolutionary left, such as the Socialist Workers Party (SWP) and Stop the War Coalition (StWC).

Perhaps it is time StWC asked the Pakistani state to call off its agents in Kashmir? On 2 February, some 16 former members of the European Parliament were scheduled to join the TeK for a second round of talks, but it was the event scheduled for 4 February which was to expose the Kashmiri lobby to some very uncomfortable scrutiny.

Among a whopping 35 advertised speakers, under the continued chairmanship of Fahim Kayani, was Pakistani Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed. He is perhaps best known internationally for referring to a February 2019 suicide attack by JeM on Indian soldiers in the following terms: “What happened in Pulwama in February, in my view, was Pakistan’s finest hour after the nuclear tests of 1998.” What a way to speak of a bombing which killed 40 men, and brought two nuclear powers to the brink of war.

That such an individual was due to share a platform with no fewer than 27 British MPs, from across the main parties, should be a matter of real disquiet. According to reports on the popular British politics website Guido Fawkes, Mushahid Hussain Sayed was eventually removed from the event at the insistence of several Conservative MPs, after the details of his remarks become known.

As President Biden ponders how to respond to the challenges posed by Pakistan, and how to progress in the case of Omar Saeed Sheikh, he is not the only politician with some thinking to do. Consider those British MPs who blunder into the Kashmir question, often with little or no understanding of who they are dealing with, and ignorant of Pakistan’s two pronged strategy—one of violence, the other of diplomatic and political lobbying.

Motivated primarily by the desire to appeal to loud voices in their own constituencies, it is perhaps too generous to say such MPs mean well. However, they ought to learn a harsh lesson from the Mushahid Hussain Sayed debacle. When it comes to Kashmir, Pakistan’s violence, and its lobbying, are hard to separate.

that is what  Dr Paul Stott is an Associate Fellow at the Henry Jackson Society in London, and at the European Foundation for South Asian Studies.  wrote yester day  on Kashmir

Deep-rooted prejudice': Pakistan strongly condemns tear gas shelling on Muharram procession in IoK    Says Dawn news on Indian Side Kashmir with this picture

    Quote
Pakistan on Wednesday strongly condemned the Indian forces' use of tear gas to disperse a "peaceful Muharram procession" in occupied Kashmir a day earlier.

On Tuesday, police in Srinagar fired tear gas and warning shots to disperse members of the Shia Muslim community who wanted to participate in processions marking the month of Muharram. They also detained dozens of people. Government forces also used batons to beat journalists covering the procession, according to a local reporter.

In a statement today, the Foreign Office said the Indian government's restrictions on processions during Muharram represented a "complete disrespect and deep-rooted prejudice [...] for the sentiments of the Muslims" in Indian occupied Kashmir.

It termed the restrictions a "flagrant violation" of Kashmiris' fundamental right to freely practise their religion.

The Foreign Office said India needed to realise that it could not break the will of the Kashmiri people to struggle for their right to self-determination through "oppression, intimidation and systematic violation of fundamental rights".

Pakistan called upon the international community, United Nations and other human rights organisations to take notice of the "brutal suppression of the religious rights and freedoms" of the people in Indian-occupied Kashmir which was a violation of international law and conventions, the statement further said.

A day earlier, IoK's Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said that "we respect the religious sentiments and practices of all, but at the same time, it is also our joint responsibility to defeat the ill designs of vested interests who try to disturb the peaceful atmosphere."

Muharram is among the holiest months for Shia Muslims across the world and includes large processions in which people recite elegies to mourn the death of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) grandson. The mourning reaches its peak on Ashura, the 10th day of the month in the Islamic lunar calendar.

    Quote
The Muharram procession in IoK turned violent last year as Indian forces fired shotgun pellets to disperse crowds, injuring dozens.

Some main Muharram processions have been banned in Indian-occupied Kashmir since 1989 when the locals demanded the region's independence from India or its merger with Pakistan.

With all sorts of problems in the Land of pure.. religious problems.. political problems , economic problems.. problems with raising cost of food items  .. Kashmir problem went down considerably in Pakistan.. But Indians came up a stunning   movie named as Kashmir Files . Not sure who financed and how authentic is that movie but it is rising temperatures across the globe..

    Quote
    The Kashmir Files   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Kashmir_Files

The Kashmir Files is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language drama film written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri. Produced by Zee Studios, the film claims to be based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits during the Kashmir Insurgency. ] It stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi and Mithun Chakraborty.  The film was theatrically released on 11 March 2022.[8]

The film became a box office success, but critical reception has been mixed.  The cinematography and the performances of the cast (particularly Kher's) has been descibed as compelling,  but the film has faced accusations of historical revisionism,  and of being propaganda aligned with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),  aiming to foster prejudice against Muslims. The film was endorsed, promoted and provided with tax-free status in multiple states by the BJP.

    Circa 1989–1990

In 1989–90 Kashmir, Islamic militants storm and banish Kashmiri Hindu Pandits from the valley using the slogan "Raliv Galiv ya Chaliv" ("convert (to Islam), leave or die"). Pushkar Nath Pandit, a teacher, fears for the safety of his son Karan, who has been accused by the militants to be an Indian spy. Pushkar requests his friend Brahma Dutt, a civil servant, for Karan's protection. Brahma travels with Pushkar to Kashmir and witnesses the plight of and violence against Kashmiri Pandits. He takes up the issue with J&K's chief minister, who suspends Brahma.

Militant commander Farooq Malik Bitta, also a former student of Pushkar, breaches Pushkar Nath's house. Karan hides in a rice container but is found and shot by Bitta. Pushkar and his daughter-in-law Sharda plead for their lives. Bitta compels Sharda to eat rice soaked in Karan's blood in exchange for their lives. After Bitta and his gang leave the house, Pushkar takes Karan to the hospital and requests his doctor friend Mahesh Kumar to save Karan's life. However, the hospital gets taken over by militants, who forbid the hospital staff from treating non-Muslims. Subsequently, Karan succumbs to injuries from gunshots.

Journalist Vishnu Ram takes Pushkar and his family to Kaul, a Hindu poet who maintains a cordial relationship with Muslims. Kaul takes in many Pandits into his home but a group of militants arrives to pick Kaul and his son up in the guise of offering protection. The rest of the Pandits leave the place but are later shocked to find the dead bodies of Kaul and his son hanging from trees.

The refugee Pandits from the Kashmir valley settle in Jammu and live on meager ration and harmful conditions. Brahma is appointed as an advisor to the new Governor of J&K. On his request, the Home Minister visits the Jammu camps where Pushkar demands the removal of Article 370 and the resettlement of Kashmiri Pandits. Brahma manages to get Sharda a government job in Nadimarg in Kashmir, and the family moves there.

One day a group of militants headed by Bitta dress up as Indian Army and arrive at Nadimarg. They round up the Pandits living there. Sharda resists when the militants get hold of her elder son Shiva. Angry Farooq strips her and saws her body in half. He lines up Shiva and the remaining Pandits and shoots them into a mass grave. Pushkar is spared to spread the word about what happened.....

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has endorsed and promoted the film.[11][23][20] Several chief ministers and senior cabinet ministers including the Home Minister Amit Shah and the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman have endorsed the film.[20] Union Minister Smriti Irani was one of the most vocal in promoting it.[11] The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has attacked critics in response to negative reviews, claiming that there is a conspiracy to discredit the film, which according to him "reveals the truth".[41] The BJP Information and Technology Cell, known for being the party's propaganda unit promoted the film with its head raising calls for people to watch it. Pro-government media were also involved in its promotion; the website OpIndia published several articles raining praising on the film and questioned the opposition parties' stances on it while television channels hosted multiple shows and debates praising the film and questioning criticism.[20]

The film was declared tax-free in multiple BJP governed states such as Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand,[42][43] with calls by several chief ministers and members of Parliament for "everyone to watch the movie".[23][44] Following other BJP ruled states, the film was also made tax-free in Bihar and Himachal Pradesh.[45][46] Concurrently, the BJP ruled state of Assam proclaimed that it had not announced a tax exemption as the state did have an entertainment tax. Assam and Madhya Pradesh announced that it would grant vacations to government employees and police personnel respectively, if they bought tickets to watch the movie. Assam, Karnataka and Tripura also held government backed special screenings of the film while in Madhya Pradesh, a BJP spokesperson bought tickets for an entire movie hall for audiences to be able to watch the movie for free.[20] In addition, in the states of Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and West Bengal, which have opposition parties in power, BJP legislators have called for their respective state governments to make the film tax free.[20]
