    Actually what bothers me more is that I can see a wider constituency for a watered down version of this on the left. As a fairly random example here’s a post just now from the urban75 forum which has been liked by a few people:

Both in Spiked orbit too. Fuck the pair of them.

    Then, of course, there is the fact that blue labour was very influential in Miliband era, its ideas were tested and found wanting. Yeah there is some wheat to separate from chaff but there is a fuck load of chaff.


    If the left can look at blue labour ideas and see anything to be attracted by then something is going very wrong.

    "give the people what they want." since the 90s it was pandering to minorities and the like. from the 20's it may be appeasing white van man and that ilk.

    anti racism and progressive values are just lines in the shifting sand. initial protests and indignation give way to sanitisation and then consensus.

    Yes. It looks like part of a campaign. It also looks like the BBC is actively pushing Blue Labour - they’ve already had Glasman on Newsnight. I get the feeling that the narrative is about to pivot from Labour having too much racism to Labour not being racist enough.

    he included a token concession to communal worship but unclear that will be enough to prevent a backlash against scientific puritanism and the economic realities of a no-deal brexit in the new year.
