Dear God,

They say I rejected you.

But when did you ever answer me or show me you exist?

Tell me God, did I not fall in prostration enough to you over the last 59 years? Did I call you by the wrong name? Was I the wrong sect? Did I fart during Salah? Neglect to use my miswak? Eat with my left hand instead of my right? Is it because I took that packet of sweets from the corner shop when I was 12?

Tell me Oh Most High and Very Invisible One - I'm all ears.

But answer came there none!

And they say it is I who rejected you!?

Capital stuff, Hassan.

The epistolary genre has seldom been truly rivalled in achieving the confessionary and self-revelatory goal. I, as you would know, have recently been dabbling in it quite a bit, for the benefit of the misguided and the misinformed.

Have you by any chance read The Colour Purple by Alice Walter?

hello Wahhabist ., yes...yes .. Every child MUST write a letter to god irrespective of their faith ., I think that should be in the curriculum for all children all the way to the end of high school

I meant Alice Walker, not Alice Walter. Heartiest apologies to the septuagenarian gal for this letter transposition on my part, which might well have happened because I'm being coerced to reread Rodney Walter's (sic) How Europe Underdeveloped Africa.
