Yeez - there's been plenty of argument about the numbers. As far as I know the official total is around eighty. Some people have argued that the real figure is a lot more but I think there's an element of conspiracy theory going on given the lack of certainty and trust in the authorities. I do think it's likely that there are victims who nobody has reported missing and who may never be accounted for.

and what is the good reason for that??... why would they not report? or whole family became victim to that fire??

don't the victim families get some sort of compensation from UK govt??.. In Pakistan it runs in to ~10 to 50000 pounds ..

There's been some interim compensation announced, which didn't sound all that much, and a lot of money raised by charities, which mostly doesn't seem to be reaching the victims. I expect that eventually, maybe after years, there will be some big legal settlement. It may be that this won't help people without legal immigration status or who didn't have an official tenancy. I've heard of one case of someone whose boyfriend was missing but hadn't reported it because she's in the country illegally. I don't know whether he's now in the official figures, or whether there's anyone else in a similar position. People with tenancies of some kind should be accounted for. The homeless person sleeping on a friend's sofa may not be. That's why I find it easy to imagine a few victims being missing from the official figures.

She may now have reported it. I don't know. The point is that she faced the dilemma in the first place, and may not be the only one. In any case if your life is now in this country and contact with the authorities is likely to mean deportation then what are you supposed to do?
