  • Pakistan's crusade against blasphemy
     OP - March 27, 2017, 12:14 PM

Has anyone been following Pakistan's crusade against blasphemy? A while ago, a judge from the Islamabad High Court directed the authorities to do something against blasphemous content on social media responding to a petition to ban blasphemous pages online. In his remarks he said something to the effect of blasphemers being terrorists and broke down in tears. Later the FIA put out an advertisement asking people to provide details of blasphemers on Facebook and now at least three bloggers have been arrested for blasphemy. According to reports Facebook has been helping the government to remove blasphemous content posted by Pakistanis and the government has asked Facebook and Twitter to provide details of Pakistanis guilty of blasphemy so that they can be tried or extradited if they are in foreign countries.

Here are a few links if you want to read about this further:

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

now what disappoint me the most not the pakistani goverment , it is expected of them to do so , it is both an islamic strategy to suppress people also used by the gov to frame any critics of it self .

yet am astonished how Facebook and twitter claim them self as a platform for speech or individual representation if they gonna corporate in suppressing them instead of staying neutral....
