  • Jannah - so boring
     OP - January 24, 2016, 10:29 PM

The world can be an exciting place that can be a struggle for the Muslim to resist in an attempt to receive some fictitious reward in Jannah. I remember reading the Quran and hadith about Jannah and more than once the thought would jump in my head about how Jannah sounded so dull and boring. Being a woman all I had to look forward to was laying around for eternity waiting for my husband to come have sex with me.

Not so entertaining I would say!

No, just lie around and drink liquor out of gold cups.

    How depressing.

I am better off enjoying this life instead.

There is also the issue that you may not even be the same person in Jannah. While humans love to boast about our virtues, our vices are a part of our identity as well. If our vices and/or ability to act upon our vices are removed are we still the same person? Can one be the same without the influence of evil, the choice of evil, without the choice (free will) to make an incorrect choice. What about emotions such as hate, anger, fear, etc. Will I be the same person without the ability to hate? Abrahamic heaven presents automatons with my memories but not what I consider self.

I would absolutely hate to spend an eternity around robotic people with no human flaws or unique traits, sounds like a nightmare.

they are NOT human., As described in Islamic literature they are inhuman in every other way

Do not let silence become your legacy.. Question everything
I renounced my faith to become a kafir,
the beloved betrayed me and turned in to  a Muslim

It's interesting that it is so easy to picture hell being a terrible place, but to imagine heaven being a correspondingly amazing place is very hard.  This is why Jannah doesn't come off very convincing compared to Jahannam.  "There will be delicious fruits ... and plentiful virgins .. and... uh, I guess cable television?  Tasty drinks?"
