    The traditional Sheikhs & Imams are a massive part of the problem.

    I wondered whether he was just trolling, but he seems to be genuinely nuts.

    Zakir Naik has an amazing memory for references and he gets applause and wins arguments on the basis of listing an amazing number of quotes. But if you actually check the quotes they do not prove his point. It all depends on interpretation. But he doesn't let the discussion get to actually looking at his quotes one by one. He just blinds people with his memory of references and everyone cheers, takbeers and claps.

    I remember one video where he was asked whether the quran discovered the water cycle. He rattled off a list of verses and everyone gasped and clapped. I took the time to go through the verses. Not one confirmed the water cycle. Most just said God sends down rain or brings the dead earth to life. Nothing specifically detailing the water cycle.

    The guy is a fraud and charlatan of epic proportions.

    Zakir Naik once stated that his goal is  to "concentrate on the educated Muslim youth who have become apologetic about their own religion and have started to feel the religion is outdated".

    He is apart of the reactionary movement that started due to to insecurities that existed among Muslims after seeing the Muslim world be completely dominated by the west.

    That's what the whole 'scientific miracle' nonsense was about. The west made huge advanced in science and the insecure Muslim reaction was 'oooh, well, the Quran says that anyway already so Islam wins'. The whole modern dawah movement was never based in anything intellectually honest, just a way to make insecure Muslims feels good about their religion.

    This is how Sheiks are behaving when they know no answer to the questions.
    They can't say I DON'T KNOW. To mislead you, they are interfering the verses of the Quran in their answers, so you keep silent and never argue.
