Babar Ahmed

Babar Ahmed has been released and is back in London after spending more than 10 years in prison and being extradited to the US
He has been described as the 'godfather of internet jihad' and admits fighting in Bosnia (possibly understandable) and , more troubling ,supporting the Taliban and Chechen jihadists
I'm really confused by this case . Elements of it really bother me - the use of the one sided extradition treaty with the US , the delay in bringing him to trial , the failure of the UK legal system to bring any charges despite having him in custody for 10 years.
On the other hand he does seem to have been implicated in some pretty serious stuff and the people who've been campaigning for his release don't exactly inspire confidence in his innocence (Liberty , Caged et al)
Anyone here care to give their take on it?
