Many of the students I know intend to vote for this party. I've read a few of their policies from the link below.

Have the students gone mad? How on Earth could you vote for this joke of a party?

    http://www.itv.com/news/update/2015-01-25/green-government-would-let-people-join-is-or-al-qaida/

People in Britain would legally be allowed to join terrorist groups such as Islamic State and Al-Qaida under the Green Party, its leader has confirmed.
Speaking on BBC's Daily Politics show, Natalie Bennett said that people should be free to think what they want, though warned that anyone inciting or committing acts of violence would feel the "full extent of the law".
"What we want to do is make sure we are not punishing people for what they think or what they believe," she said.
Bennett also spoke about plans to reduce the army - replacing it with a smaller home defence force.
She added that the Greens would progressively ease immigration controls.
"What we have to do is stop the race to the bottom on immigration rhetoric that we have been hearing, led by Ukip and sadly followed by the other [parties]," she said.

Idiot. We should be allowed to talk about immigration. I see it as a major issue. Especially living in the kind of areas that I do. These white guilt liberals who ahve noe xperience of what it is like to lvie in the Ghetto amongst the hardworking first generation and now some of the 'benefits street' level piss takes that come here. Also, if you join IS hand in your VIZA and fuck off for life!

Someone please put me in my place.

I quite like the Green Party and I agree with a number of their policies, although not all. Rather than resort to knee jerk short term fixes and promises just to win election points like many political parties around the world, the Greens have plans that are long term and far reaching, which makes sense if you are thinking about improving the quality of life for all.
Our greedy consumerist lifestyles are unsustainable, especially with a population of 7 billion and rising, with wealth concentrated amongst the elite few while the majority bear the brunt of the hardship.
So yeah, they do resonate with me, but for now I can't decide if I should vote Green or SNP in the GE. I think I might go for SNP in the GE and the Greens for the Scottish elections.  Smiley

Bwahahaha that would definitely turn quite a few people apoplectic with rage. I'd be tempted to pay good money for that just to see the expression on their faces  Cheesy

The only policy of theirs that I know about, is the citizens income. Don't know why Labour isn't doing something similar. Beats that universal credit bullshit that is being rushed through prior to the general elections.

Long term policies like ban on nuclear energy, the most efficient and viable source of energy?

The Greens don't offer anything remotely realistic. Some of their policies are downright laughable, some don't achieve anything except sour relations with UK allies (like their plan to leave NATO). A few are decent. Even UKIP has decent policies. It's not an accomplishment.

I'd really like to see nuclear weapons dismantled permanently, but nuclear energy is a good option IMO in conjunction with other forms like solar, hydro etc to ultimately wean us off fossil fuels.

Their concept of Citizen's income is interesting, and approach to drug use seems sensible though I haven't read it in detail. There are loads of other things I agree / disagree with. I don't know what they are like down South but they talk a lot of sense up here in Scotland and I was impressed with their performance during the Referendum.

I think people here have realised that they do not have to settle for the usual rhetoric from the same ol' parties. Smaller parties like the Greens and the Scottish Socialist Party can be game changers.
The SNP used to barely register on anyone's radar but enough of us were impressed with their first performance in government that they were voted in a second time. They have their failings too, but for a relatively newish political player, they are giving Scottish Labour quite a headache.
So I'm happy to see the Greens get into power so they can show us what they are made of and how they will handle the responsibility that comes with it Smiley

That said, the UK system of First Past the Post needs to be scrapped so people can actually vote for the parties they want instead of the usual tactical voting that many of us have to resort to.

This GE is going to be nail bitingly exciting!  grin12

I just joined as a member last week. They'll become slightly more moderate as they gain more voters.

You think the other parties aren't a joke? Who do you intend voting for? Me, I'm adding a 'none of the above' box, with the added bonus of rude words and other scribbled vulgarities. Wasted if you do, wasted if you don't.

    Ha Ha.

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

The green party manifesto is a fucking joke. I would never vote for them with that bollocks.

If Nigel Farage didn't represent UKIP he'd get my vote lol he's hilarious.   Also if the Scottish National Party get to the number 10 this year with the likely event of a hung parliament, surely this must be an historic event ?  I can't wait for it !
