For once I think this is a reasonable stance, considering their audience of believers.

For Muslims, love of the Prophet ( ﷺ peace be upon him) is a NECESSARY part of our FAITH. He is dearer to us than our parents and children. We prefer him to our own self

I can’t believe how glaringly and blatantly cultish that now sounds…

Even when I was a Muslim I found it difficult to swallow the hadith about loving the prophet more than my family.

There was no way I loved some guy I never knew more than my kids.

    It was useless even trying.

You simply "can't truly love" someone you have never known in the flesh.

You can respect the ideal you have been fed - but to truly 'love' him more than your own children?? No way - unless one just pretends??

I simply couldn't and I used to think that most Muslims must get by just paying lip service to that, because it's simply impossible.

Unless perhaps if by "love" it just means; "obey"!!

in the past, the MCB would have issued quite a weasel word belligerent response. Whatever the reason for their change its progress of sorts, you have to think

"we can smell traitors and country haters"

    God is Love.
Love is Blind. Stevie Wonder is blind. Therefore, Stevie Wonder is God.

Isn't the MCB cricket's governing body? Why the fuck should their opinion matter on this?

Isn't cricket's governing body the ICC?

I think that the MCB can only govern Middlesex.

My mind runs, I can never catch it even if I get a head start.

    Well done for knowing that.

I think I was thinking ECB? My bad.

I used to play cricket at team level & we had matches against Middlesex, that's how I knew it.

Bloody hell. I apologise for the thread hijack from the Men Cant Behave stuff, but that is impressive.

I'm good at sports, but unfortunately useless at cricket. I've had one appearance for the B team at the local club. I batted at number 11 and was 6 not out after facing 9 overs. It's one of my proudest and flukiest moments ever.

Club level isn't massively great, it's a step below county. I had a chance to go county once but never went to the trials.
Anyways, our coach died & our club pretty much disbanded after that... loved that massive West Indian fella, never told him that though.

My mind runs, I can never catch it even if I get a head start.

It's ok, some people can feel the love. It doesn't have to be put into words.

I'm sorry MCB thread. May you continue with your misdirection, insincerity, and smoke and mirrors for ever.

Never showed it either. I think we were too young at that point to process exactly what the guy was doing for us.
Anyways... in line with what Musi has said, Thumma Ameen.

My mind runs, I can never catch it even if I get a head start.
