    As France tries to come to terms with the deaths of the 12 people murdered in the Islamist attack at the office of Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris, Panorama investigates the battle for the hearts and minds of British Muslims. John Ware hears from Muslims facing an angry backlash for trying to promote a form of Islam which is in synch with British values. They believe that the way Islam has been practised here has more in common with extremist ideologies than some police officers, politicians or Muslim leaders have been prepared to admit.

    Not just Payapa, unfortunately. I was looking at the panarama hashtag stream and hardly any tweets were supportive at the time.

    This is not current (2016?) but I found it an interesting documentary from Manchester on forced marriage and honour violence. We have no recognition of honour violence in the US so seeing how the methodology differs in police procedure was fascinating for me. I was treated much like this by law enforcement who understood my case but what I experienced is not standardized procedure. I wish we had this level of protection for our citizens and residents.

    Any attempt to create a progressive, liberal and inclusive version of islam is completely wrongheaded. It's like building a disco in an internment camp and forcing people to dance.

    rather then funding facebook, activists, and fringe initiatives, the home office should pay target communities directly. A straightforward bribe would be more effective to make young muslims assimilate.

    I wonder if it is incompetence or indifference that leads to public money being spent on ineffective projects like these. Rather than controversial or underhand, it's just plain embarrassing.
