I wanted to share an interesting conversation I had with a doctor.

Anyway, I stared to have a conversation with a doctor about religion and about an afterlife.

He said that he thinks that feeling hell or heaven is simply not possible because if our brain stops working we simply won't be able to feel joy or pain. "Have you a got an anesthesia before a surgery? You felt anything during surgery? No, because your nerves stopped working. Otherwise you couldn't take the pain. No painkiller could suppress the pain of a surgery. So it just needs a small amount of poison to stop us from feeling pain or joy. Without a working brain, you simply can't feel anything. So there can't be an afterlife"

"But where do I go when I die?" I asked. "Well, where have you been, before you were born?" he replied.

Well in some interpretations of the Abrahamic afterlife (especially Islam), you are resurrected and given a body (hopefully not your old decomposed one) on Judgment Day. So Allah/Jesus/whatever reassembles non believers just so he/she/it can torture them forever.

What body do you get to be tortured for eternity or to go to heaven with?  What age is it?   What if you had severe disabilities, do you take the polio or ms with you?

When you are a Bear of Very Little Brain, and you Think of Things, you find sometimes that a Thing which seemed very Thingish inside you is quite different when it gets out into the open and has other people looking at it.

Apparently you don't take your erectile disfunction with you for the debauchery going down in paradise.

Perhaps the size of your new penis is determined by your deeds

^ This is why Allah is so wise. He foresees these things in advance (but he forgot to make it so girls could work out comfortably the first time).

Is this really the state we've got to with religion that we have to praise doctors for being 'smart'?
