    The site has been up and down like a yo-yo, including "ZOMFG account suspended" notices and endless loading stuffz, and weird messages from CloudFlare.

    major DDOS started around 4pm GMT on Friday.

    I was working on trying to mitigate it for over 9 hours yesterday. Ended up having to sign up with cloudflare. The attack is still ongong btw. But we're managing it now. Smiley

    To anyone who doesn't mind answering: What is a Dos attack? Who does it and why? Is it people who dislike this site because of what it stands for or just random nutters?

    It is often done by computers infected with malware which can do DDoS which are then controlled from other compromised computers which are controlled by access through the Tor network.

    So basically it is just a fact of online life these days if you have real estate there finmad

    Huh. Richard Dawkins also complained about his site being taken down by a DDOS attack. Lol I was wondering why when I tried to load the page I was getting a "Checking for DDOS" error. Thought it was one of the new chrome extensions I downloaded, so I removed them.

    Simplest way to understand, it's basically traffic that flood the site and it goes down because of the amount of packets being sent.
