    Facts of Planet Earth....

    Quote
The Earth's Diameter is 7926.41 miles.

The surface area of Earth is  (pi  x  Diameter²) = 197.38 million square miles (where pi = 3.14159265358979).

However, the Earth only has 57 million square miles of land (that's 36.48 billion acres; there are 640 acres per square mile).
However, there are only 12 million square miles (7.68 billion acres) of arable land.

    Quote
The world population in year 1 A.D. was 250 million people.......(Estimation)

The world population in year 1492 was 500 million people.......(Estimation)

The world population in 1804 was 1.0 billion people.

The world population in 1922 was 2.0 billion people (doubled in 118 years; increasing on average by about 23,000 per day).

The world population in 1959 was 3.0 billion people (increased by 1.0 billion in only 37 years; increasing on average by about 74,000 per day).

The world population in 2006 was 6.68 billion people (more than doubled in 47 years; increasing now by 211,000 persons per day!).

The world population by 2039 could be 8.0 to 13 billion.

    Quote
    In 1959, there were 12.16 acres per person, world-wide (i.e. 36.48 billion acres / 3 billion people).
    In 2006, there were 5.46 acres per person, world-wide (i.e. 36.48 billion acres / 6.68 billion people).
By 2039, there may be only 2.81 acres per person, world-wide (i.e. 36.48 billion acres / 13 billion people).

The U.S. has 3.794 million square miles, of which 3.54 million square miles is land area (for a fast growing U.S. population of 300 million people as of the end of year 2006).
That is only 8.09 acres per person in the U.S.
However, only about a quarter of that is arable land.
That means there are only about 2.02 acres per person of arable land in the U.S.

However, consider that there is only 12 million square miles (7.68 billion acres) of arable land on the planet.
And, ignore for a moment that arable land is being lost at a rate of 38,610 square miles per year.
That is, lets assume no arable land is being lost for the next 33 years.  Then . . .

In 2006, there was 1.15 acres of arable land per person, world-wide (i.e. 7.68 billion acres / 6.68 billion people).
By 2039, there may be only 0.59 acres of arable land per person, world-wide (i.e. 7.68 billion acres / 13 billion people).

However, arable land is being lost at the alarming rate of over 38,610 square miles (24.7 million acres) per year.
Therefore, by  2039, there may be only 0.53 acres of arable land per person, world-wide (i.e. 6.865 billion acres / 13 billion people).
At the current rate of loss of 38,610 square miles per year of arable land, and even if the population didn't grow any larger, ALL arable land could be lost in only 310 years (12 million square miles / 38,610 square miles per year)!

Nikolaj  every one  and everything dies., frankly speaking for life,  death  and evolutionary processes that  will shape the future of humanity will have no bearing weather .. you, I and some one else having children or no children.

I am not posting the facts of Planet earth for  making people nervous and not to have children ...lol...   So please .. have girlfriend ..wife.. have children or otherwise foster children.. help children,,, educate children...  do what we can do as long as we live with all senses intact & working..

Makes for rather a depressing read. It also makes me wonder if a consumer based societal model is really such a good idea and not just a short sighted one? Surely a bit of stability and sustainability is to much to ask for. Baboons need to get a handle on their populations.
It's at times like this perhaps I'd feel more happy as a 'Brand' new spiritualist hippie. Wink

That model is not  just terrible but it is a horrible model with a horrible consequences in near future.. But DT we can not get depressed and sit in a shell on a mountain ., We got to think ways.  we(Human beings that includes some human species whom I call Baboons and Monkeys)  are NOT stupid animals just to breed..eat ..live and die.  we are more than that.. and we are very very fortunate to have world wide web at our figure tips.  It is just we need to educate   as many as possible and as much as possible..

So let us not get depressed with future reality..   Cheesy but the graph that showed the rate of population increase is very interesting..

According to United Nations world population will peak at 8,7 billion at 2055 and decline to 8 billion by 2100.
    http://www.cnbc.com/id/101018722

Many countries will rather be facing the problems of population decline.

Also, if solar panels continue to become more efficient to point the price of solar energy reaches grid parity, then the biggest environmental problem will be rid off.

A planet's climate is decided by its mass, its distance from the sun and the composition of its atmosphere. Earth's atmosphere is 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and 1% other gases. Carbon dioxide accounts for just 0.03 - 0.04%. Water vapour, varying in amount from 0 to 2%, carbon dioxide and some other minor gases present in the atmosphere absorb some of the thermal radiation leaving the surface and emit radiation from much higher and colder levels out to space. These radiatively active gases are known as greenhouse gases because they act as a partial blanket for the thermal radiation from the surface and enable it to be substantially warmer than it would otherwise be, analogous to the effect of a greenhouse. This blanketing is known as the natural greenhouse effect. Without the greenhouse gases, Earth's average temperature would be roughly -20°C. T
The earth's atmosphere is a very thin layer wrapped around a very large planet.

Two gases make up the bulk of the earth's atmosphere: nitrogen (), which comprises 78% of the atmosphere, and oxygen (), which accounts for 21%. Various trace gases make up the remainder.

Based on temperature, the atmosphere is divided into four layers: the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, and thermosphere.

Energy is transferred between the earth's surface and the atmosphere via conduction, convection, and radiation.

Ocean currents play a significant role in transferring this heat poleward. Major currents, such as the northward flowing Gulf Stream, transport tremendous amounts of heat poleward and contribute to the development of many types of weather phenomena.

The atmosphere is divided into five layers. It is thickest near the surface and thins out with height until it eventually merges with space.

    1) The troposphere is the first layer above the surface and contains half of the Earth's atmosphere. Weather occurs in this layer.

    2) Many jet aircrafts fly in the stratosphere because it is very stable. Also, the ozone layer absorbs harmful rays from the Sun.

    3) Meteors or rock fragments burn up in the mesosphere.

    4) The thermosphere is a layer with auroras. It is also where the space shuttle orbits.

    5) The atmosphere merges into space in the extremely thin exosphere. This is the upper limit of our

Geostationary Satellite Orbit, GEO - details of the basics of the geostationary earth orbit, GEO, used by satellites.

    Radio-electronics.com

One very popular orbit format is the geostationary satellite orbit. The geostationary orbit is used by many applications including direct broadcast as well as communications or relay systems.

The geostationary orbit has the advantage that the satellite remains in the same position throughout the day, and antennas can be directed towards the satellite and remain on track. This factor is of particular importance for applications such as direct broadcast TV where changing directions for the antenna would not be practicable.

It is necessary to take care over the use of the abbreviations for geostationary orbit. Both GEO and GSO are seen, and both also used for geosynchronous orbit

Arthur C Clarke's Geostationary Orbiting Satellites Concept

    Quote
The idea of a geostationary orbit has been postulated for many years. One of the possible originators of the basic idea was a Russian theorist and science fiction writer, Konstantin Tsiolkovsky. However it was Herman Oberth and Herman Potocnik who wrote about orbiting stations at an altitude of 35 900 km above the Earth that had a rotational period of 24 hours making it appear to hover over a fixed point on the equator.

The next major step forwards occurred when Arthur C Clarke, the science fiction write, published a serious article in Wireless World, a major UK electronics and radio publication, in October 1945. The article was entitled "Extra-Terrestrial Relays: Can Rocket Stations Give World Coverage?"

Clarke extrapolated what could be done with the German rocket technology of the day and looked at what might be possible in the future. He postulated that it would be possible to provide complete global coverage with just three geostationary satellites

In the article, Clarke determined the orbital characteristics required as well as the transmitter power levels, the generation of solar power could be used, even calculating the impact of solar eclipses.

Clarke's article was well ahead of its time. It took until 1963 before NASA was able to start launching satellites that could test the theory. The first serviceable satellite able to start testing the theory was Syncom 2 which was launched on 26 July 1963. [Syncom 1 failed as it was unable to reach its correct geostationary orbit].

    Quote
    Geostationary satellite drift

Even when satellites are placed into a geostationary orbit, there are several forces that can act on it to change its position slowly over time.

Factors including the earth's elliptical shape, the pull of the Sun and Moon and others act to increase the satellite orbital inclination. In particular the non-circular shape of the of the Earth around the Equator tends to draw the satellites towards two stable equilibrium points, one above the Indian Ocean and the other very roughly around the other side of the World.. This results in what is termed as an east-west libration or movement back and forth.

To overcome these movements, fuel is carried by the satellites to enable them to carry out "station-keeping" where the satellite is returned to its desired position. The period between station-keeping manoeuvres is determined by the allowable tolerance on the satellite which is mainly determined by the ground antenna beamwidth. This will mean that no re-adjustment of the antennas is required.

Often the useful life of a satellite is determined by the time for which fuel will allow the station-keeping to be undertaken. Often this will be several years. After this the satellite can drift towards one of the two equilibrium points, and possibly re-enter the Earth's atmosphere. The preferred option is for the satellites to utilise some last fuel to lift them into a higher and increasing orbit to prevent them from interfering with other satellites

No david.. no one can fuck earth...  no allahdoll   no fuckwit god can fuck earth.,  trust me on that

Hmm this is a good one..

So answer to this question  How Many Man-Made Satellites Are Currently Orbiting Earth?  is

There are  1,100 active satellites, both government and private from different countries. And there  are some 2,600 ones that no longer work. Russia launched the first satellite, Sputnik 1, in 1957. The oldest one still in orbit, which is no longer functioning, was launched in 1958.

interesting.,   in 60 years or so we the people looking at the Mars ground  pictures.. and these religious nutcases for the past 2 or more thousand years did nothing but  CREATE miseries to the fellow human beings with their stupid silly revelations

    David.. I am + ve,  I am 100% sure.,

David.  Earth was there before life.. before human being before god.. and earth will be there after   life.. after human being and after that human created/imagined  god..   The only life that gets fucked by fucking earth is the higher life form.. So the humans are the ones who gets fucked first..
