An ex Muslim friend said to me a while ago that one you get over the guilt of the afterlife that's when you know you don't believe.
I think the fear is gone, but I'm worried that I'll become like my mother when I'm older, worrying about what happens after death

Don't worry. If do good a good god would if there treat you well, if not would not want to support that god in first place.

I hate Christianity and Islam's all or nothing afterlife. Either an eternity of bliss or torment is based on whether you call God Jesus, Allah, Yahweh, or any of the other millions of names of gods throughout history. And all this based upon some 70 or so years you actually have on Earth before you die.
