Joined today so just introducing myself. I'm 46, female, British-born to Pakistani parents and live in the south. I decided that it was finally time to admit that I don't have a religious bone in my body. I've tried to pretend but this is getting more difficult. Everyone wants to be accepted for who they are, don't they? Anyway I thought talking to others with similar issues would make it more bearable, so fingers crossed!

Hi mini-me,

Welcome to CEMB

I was never a Muslim. Born and raised atheist. I ended up here when researching Islam on my own and found the discussions, knowledge and experiences of people to be absolutely fascinating. Being a white atheist boy from a white atheist home in a white atheist/agnostic society isn't that exciting so I am easy to impress though

Also the atmosphere here is in general very friendly. I am sure you will like it here

Also it is good to have another adult member. This place is swamped with teenagers!!!

Nah, regular posters are in their 20s, 30s, 40s and at least two in their 50s as well.

I wonder if that is actually a very common condition. There is a book "God's Funeral", by AN Wilson, that discusses religion in 19C Victorian (should actually be called navvieist!) England and notes after "those dreadful hammers" "the perfectly ordinary agnostic housewife".
