    Why do ISIS wear black?

    Is this simply a modern innovation based on the alleged black flag of Muhammad?

    Or are there any actual early sources that say Muhammad's army wore black?

    They claim to be the army of Al-Mahdi that will be carrying black banners/flags as per some Islamic eschatological traditions. I haven't read any tradition mentioning black-uniforms but I am sure there's a connection b/w black banners and black clothing (made by AQ/ISIS types).

    @NeoApostate That was also my first thought. There's a lot of romanticism about Mahdi and "Al-Shaam" where Mahdi and his army will emerge. A whole buncv of hadeeth on the topic, very obviously fabricated at a later stage for whatever political agenda at the time Roll Eyes

    I always thought that the relevant Hadiths talked about black flags in Khorasan ( the East End of Persia ) - obviously, in context, the Abbasid nightmare ( if you were an Ummayad ).

    I remember my last visit to Iraq this whole "emo scare" sprang up where everyone thought that boys like that must be gay.

    I am a chick.
    Most of my family lives in Karada and (العطيفية), although my own home was in Dora but since that was the very area my family had to flee it would be stupid to stay there.
