Best and worst moderates - and why?

    My Fave:
    Tarek Fatah,
Openly critisises aspects of the Qu'ran. Exposes fake moderates like Mehdi and Mo Ansar. Only criticism is that he flirts too much with Neo-cons like Michael Coren

    Irshaad Manji,
Muslim lesbian. What more can be said. Huge round of applause  Afro - wish her all the best. (Although slightly deluded for still being a Muslim)

    Dr Usama Hassan,
Imam who accepts in the theory of evolution - brave thing to do!

    Maajid Nawaz,
Great speaker. Works well with Jews and apostates. Vehemently against extremism of all sorts.

    My worst:
    Mehdi Hassan
    Called non Muslims "Cattle"
    Chose not to support CEMB
    Gets way too offended.
Delusional tendencies - believes that Mo Split the moon and rode on a winged horse - LOOOOOOOOL

    Mo Ansar:
Hate campaign against Maajid + Fake accounts + Takes offence very easily + Flirts with HUT members ie - Hamza Tzort...
Doesn't really even know to much about Islam either - judging by his EDL documentary.
Blatantly lies - and therefore perpetuates Islamophobia by making non Muslims believe that 'taqqiuah' actually exists.

Your views. Your best and worst?

The best moderate right now is Malala.

What about Euro news corespondent Mohammad Shaikhibrahim, gets assaulted by a bunch of Salafis for suspicion of being a Shia while on the job but does a little thing like that scare him off ... no, he's still EN's no.1 Middle East corespondent.
That said I'm going on the awful assumption that because he has an Arabic name and reports from the M.E,  he's actually a believing Muslim.

Not to be taken as a competition between him and Malala, just another example of (I think) a moderate, who I appreciate is doing important work and making a good job of it.

I don't know if Tariq Ramadan is considered a moderate? But i definitely considered him to be a moderate munafiq when i was a bit of an over the top Muslim. I like him now mostly for superficial reasons admittedly, he is gorgeous after all and has a beautiful soft voice lol but i like his style of speaking too he's kinda convincing.

Irshad Manji just irks me, i'm baffled as to why she hasn't already apostatized already instead chooses to desperately cling on!

As a Muslim I disliked Ramadan, as a Muslim I dislike him the same. Funnily enough, reasons behind the dislike is somewhat the same Roll Eyes

Okay, looking at the video it might be fairer to say physically confronted but lucky to get away without a lynching. Now to borrow a line from YZV book, lets take a look at these baboons of Islam in action.

This report may also be of interest, here we get a brief insight into the hostile Salafi Egypt p.o.v on diplomatic relations with shia Iran. We also get a further glimpse of Baboons of Islam in action, one of the interviewees bears an uncanny similarity.  Cheesy

Usama Hasan and Maajid Nawaz have both acknowledged the problems caused by Islam's apostasy codes and the issues faced by Exmuslims. They've faced abuse for doing so. Maajid Nawaz included the persecution of Exmuslims in a news report he did for the BBC. No other moderate Muslims in public life have done that.

Yet apparently most muslims hate him. Almost every time I come across him on TV or radio with another muslim, they say he has no standing and is unsupported and disrespected in islamic communities.

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

Anyone that is remotely intellectual or pro equality is frowned upon in most islamic communities.

    Best:
    -Reza Aslan
    -Edip Yüksel
    -Aisha Musa

    Worst:
-Najib Razak, Malaysian Prime Minister. In front of Westerners or non-Muslims, he says that Malaysia practices moderate Islam, we should fight against extremism, and recently expresses how much he is against IS. But before this he made a speech towards his fellow Muslims that "human-rightism" and liberalism are deviationists. He also once said that members of his political party should emulate IS.

    Religions + Politics = Problem

Politicians aren't moderate or conservative, they only aim for political survival. I guess in multiracial and multireligious Muslim-majority countries like Indonesia or Malaysia, politicians present a liberal face to foreign trading partners and investors, an accomodating face to local non-Muslims and a more hard-line focus to placate local Muslims. They will say and do anything to stay in power.

In other words, they've a bunch of snakes who can't be trusted by anyone. As for moderates, I feel their toning down of the harsher aspects of Islam makes them the target of both conservatives (for not being true Muslims) and liberals (for not rejecting religious bullshit outright). The more people see the idiocy of Islam and religion warts-and-all, without the sugarcoating, the better.
