Welcome.
I can't say anything about any country but my own, but, at least in America, I would not approve of a limit on Muslim immigration.
In my opinion, our attention would be misplaced if we concentrated on regulating the number of Muslims in the country, and I would rather see our efforts poured into reinforcing secularism and nipping all attempts to introduce religion into law in the bud.
In fact, I'd imagine that actually placing a restriction on how many people of a certain faith can immigrate to a given place to be more likely to backfire than anything else: not only would it compromise the very idea of the freedoms we are trying to defend, but, especially in Islam, I tend to see persecution or perceived persecution increase the solidarity and resolve of Muslims, and will foster an "us versus them" mentality that will inflame the issues we already have, and make those prone to hostility far more hostile.
At the same time, those who
would have immigrated and whose extreme views
would have been reformed greatly by seeing a working secular society, would perhaps have been denied immigration or allowed with such conditions that they find more criticisms of the West than positives. By being too restrictive, we will fail to embody the examples of decency and secularism that should set the tone for the rest of the world.
Anyway, welcome, and it will be nice to hear some of your perspectives!
