     OP - April 10, 2014, 01:23 PM

    Dear forum members,

I try to make my views on Islam clear on my blog ecawblog.wordpress.com
particularly in the first and latest articles.

While I would be grateful for any insights or corrections you could provide I would also like to ask what your views on Muslim immigration are. I think it should be limited because an uncertain proportion, those who take Mohammed at his word it seems to me, will be hostile to me and my country.
I would imagine a similar group would also like to see you, as apostates, dead. What's your view?

    Thanks, ECAW

    Welcome.  parrot

I can't say anything about any country but my own, but, at least in America, I would not approve of a limit on Muslim immigration.

In my opinion, our attention would be misplaced if we concentrated on regulating the number of Muslims in the country, and I would rather see our efforts poured into reinforcing secularism and nipping all attempts to introduce religion into law in the bud.

In fact, I'd imagine that actually placing a restriction on how many people of a certain faith can immigrate to a given place to be more likely to backfire than anything else: not only would it compromise the very idea of the freedoms we are trying to defend, but, especially in Islam, I tend to see persecution or perceived persecution increase the solidarity and resolve of Muslims, and will foster an "us versus them" mentality that will inflame the issues we already have, and make those prone to hostility far more hostile.

At the same time, those who would have immigrated and whose extreme views would have been reformed greatly by seeing a working secular society, would perhaps have been denied immigration or allowed with such conditions that they find more criticisms of the West than positives. By being too restrictive, we will fail to embody the examples of decency and secularism that should set the tone for the rest of the world.

Anyway, welcome, and it will be nice to hear some of your perspectives!

I wouldn't limit immigration for a certain group just because of their religion. I blame the people who pussyfoot around and give in to completely unreasonable demands that would never be acceptable if they were made by white christians/atheists and allowing segregation and demonising of the "other". We allowed fundamentalism to grow in this country unchallenged.

That said, the "uncertain proportion" you mention is very small. Most muslims are just normal people who get on with their lives and don't hurt anyone.

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

I could say the same about conservatives.

Too fucking busy, and vice versa.
