    Hello, My name is Mohammed and I am 16. I am an ex-muslim, and I've been one for almost 6 months. I've decided to leave Islam after learning about it and how sexist it is towards Women. I also dislike the restrictions, but not things like not being able to drink, or gambling etc...
    One major thing I dislike about main religions is that God punishes those who don't believe in him indefinitely. How is it fair that you get to burn for eternity just because you don't believe in God? Who hasn't made his message clear. Plus, there's like thousands of religions and beliefs so what are the odds that you will get it right? How does this make God the most merciful? If Allah is the most forgiving, then surely he'd let almost everyone in Heaven, but no, even Muslims themselves know and admit that the majority of humans will go to hell. That thought is so crucial, considering that most people who are famous for changing the world are non-muslims.

    Anyways, I think that is enough for today but I hope that I may utilize these forums more often and I hope that I am welcomed here. Thank you

    Mohammed just means "praised" in Arabic. So I don't see why that matters.

    Hello all! Thank you for the welcome.

    I'm not sure whether I will change my name. The cons of keeping it is that people will mistaken me for a Muslim most likely and that I'm named after the prophet who I don't really like either. But I'd keep it because I'd find it uncomfortable calling myself a different name plus it will be awkward when talking to people of my childhood.

    I think i'll just keep it to be honest.

    Well, the name can create confusion, but if you don't have any problems with it, then it's good!
    Many ex-muslim want to change their names because of the religious connection.

    That, that right there drives me absolutely crazy, always has since childhood and no one around me addresses it or they pretend that nothing is wrong with this belief.

    Good idea. The more secular Mohammeds in Britain the better.

    Keep your name. For the first - it is you. You are Mohammed. Well, perhaps not THAT Mohammed 1400 years ago (thank our non-existing god(s)). But YOU Mohammed.

    I can't remember where I saw it, probably here on the forum, but it was something like a Jordanian atheist asking if he should change his name since it was somewhat puzzling for people that he was given the name of "Abdallah bin Islam"
