    In the subcontinent there is a saying 'much nahi to kuch nahi.'

    Meaning, 'if you don't have a moustache, you don't have anything (status).'

    In patriarichal socieites growing your moustache is a way to measure your dick in comparison to others.

    Yeah I realise it's a dick thing, but I was wondering why no beard and a big moustache, given that it is supposedly not what Allah and Mo would prefer in the way of facial hair innit.

    Why not huge beard to substitute for public display of one's genitals? Would not Allah be happier with this?

    I understand what you are saying and I have raised that question to.

    As I alluded to earlier, we are social animals and we conform to social naorms and values in order to reinforce the ingroup and outgroup mentality.

    The moustache represents virility, manhood and authority (from their perspective). Most police officers in the subcontinent are ordered to grow moustaches as it gives them an air of superiority. Maybe it's a modern or colonial development...but I would say it's a social/cultural phenomenon rather than one that is justified by a religious basis.


    I understand your bemusement and say it's an example of how Muslims like to belong but not really, really believe in it (Islam).

    BTW, beard is fard and not sunnah as lots of Muslims like to claim.

    & am realising I love cats, I remember when I used to see cats in Pakistan few months ago always running away being scared by people, they are trying to keep them from entering their houses and at open air restaurants on dinner times from their tables, doing like, "Hussshhhhhhhhhhhh, Hushhhhhhhhh,,, go away you dirty cat"
    but now my landlords's cat (her name's Kat, bit overweight, chubby) scares me sometimes and getting in to my room suddenly as if ambushing while am concentrating on something else, and she rubs her head on my body and saying little Meoooww, Awwww, I love cats, they act damn cute...

    You are wise to be suspicious of their motives my friend. Remain vigilant and keep all your belongings in a safe place. If you suspect that the cat knows of their whereabouts then you must relocate your treasured items post haste!

    Cats are arrogant and thieves. They do nothing productive and are selfish. Dogs save lives and contribute to society.

    Disagree. Being able to argue which is better rather than "Dogs are bad, black dogs are terrifying" and "Cats are awesome because Mo had one" has a lot to do with leaving islam. You can have an opinion on it.
