    You know what's interesting. Whenever you hear about famous inventors form the West they don't say this was a 'Christian' invention. Yet, if someone was living in an Islamic country and made an invention Islam is given credit immediately. This is a 'Muslim/Islam' invention. What? I'm under the impression that some (not all) but some of the inventions back in Islam's golden age wasn't made by Muslims but people coincidentally living under Islamic rule at the time.

    You're not the only one. If someone who happens to be muslim invents something, "Look what islam gave the world, surely there is no god but allah". When a none muslim does it, no one else takes credit except the actual people involved. Never heard the jews take credit for the theory of relativity.

    Ben Stein did, and I've heard many right-wing Zionists justify their discrimination against Muslims by comparing how many Jewish scientists and Nobel laureates there are compared to Muslim ones.

    See above. If Muslims do it more it's because of a post-colonial inferiority complex, but all the religions claim famous scientists and such as their own and play up the fact they were adherents to this or that religion, even when (like in the case of Einstein), it isn't actually true.

    Aren't they more the minority though? In my experience most christians roll their eyes at this. Maybe not in America though.

     "post-colonial inferiority complex,"  that is a good word Colonel Q.,  But  I am not sure  that "Inferiority complex in  "EDUCATED Muslim folks "started with post-colonial  times"., I think it is a very recent phenomenon. It may have started in  late 60s after that Arab-Israeli war.  Off Course real Science also began after 2nd world war..

    Claiming Newton as xian is strange!  He did not believe Jesus was equal with God and spent most of his time studying alchemy.

    I wrote that. Like I said, I don't know, but if I was to play devil's advocate - are you thinking it is a race construct because we can have procreate amongst ourselves, all humans? if it based on that, then Neanderthal were also the same race?

    Also we are not all descended from Mitrochondrial Eve, latest studies have suggested that Y-chromosomal Adam was in the  350/500,000 years old, previously thought to be 75,000 yrs old, he know precedes Mitrochondrial who 'lived' 200/250 years.

    So man is lot older than we think, our genetics are older than I thought, I wonder if it makes a difference, I have my views.
    I am my own worst enemy and best friend, itsa bit of a squeeze in a three-quarter bed, tho. Unhinged!? If I was a dog I would be having kittens, that is unhinged.     As a matter of fact they do, the Arabic Wikipedia article on the ‘Christian World’ has a massive sub-section on “Christian Science” featuring the likes of Galileo, Newton, etc.

    I think part of the issue stems from differences in the way a member of a religion is perceived. In the West, a “Christian” is an individual who believes in Jesus and the Bible. But in the Islamic mindset, a Christian is a member of a group of people whom God gave a scripture and is now a protected class according to Sharia. So based on that logic Einstein and Darwin are Christians by birth, regardless of what they actually believe.
    Or alternatively that wiki article was just written by Arab Christians as a response to all the Dawah on "Islamic Science".

    I think the issue of 'Christian Science' and whether there has been any historical/contemporary claims of 'Christian Science' or 'Biblical science' deserves a lot of merit in the sense of comparing the competing Muslim and Christian claims.

    I'm sure there's an academic who may have already covered this.

    On an intersting note, two years ago I went on a field trip to a Hindu temple (BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir London) with a year 8 RS class and there was a tour within the magnificient building followed by a segregated pooja ceremony.

    During the walk there were several 'Hindu facts' on the wall in which 'Hindu Science' from the Rig Vedas, Baghavad Gita, Ramayana (othe sacred Hindutexts were also referred to that I am unable to recall) etc were displayed. These were remarkably similar claims to that made by Muslims about science in the Qur'an.

    This maybe a modern construction in response to competing claims by other religions, though a multi-faith approach to the claims would be interesting to analyse and interpret. If only I didn't have so many books to mark!  Cry

    Yeah yeah yeah zee vee in da house. It is good you pulled me up on it because I was referring to the 338 000 yr old estimate but before it was 75,000 years (this figure was accepted for a long time), now its older, if it is older than 200,000 years it makes a difference.

    What difference? Well at 75,000 if we looked at daddy he would probably look human, even at 200,000 years possibly he would look more like us, at 338,000 years daddy would be a hairy ape with a very primitive mind.

    The fact that Mitro Eve and Y Adam lived in similar times is fucking exciting. the story of Adam and Eve based on scientific scripture with a little suspension of belief it would be the movie and then some.
