Welcome. Fancy filling us in on how you came to this point?

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

Since I was a kid, I was always thinking "praise to allah" that kind of thinking. When i reached about 14.. i started to have doubts. I met a friend freshman year who was born athiest.. and we started talking. I did extensive studying on the quran for the rest of the year, and the more i read, the more contradictions i saw.

Now my parents threaten to kick me out of the house.. haha go ahead, I'm 17 and turning 18 in feburary, I'll be glad to leave ^_^. I have plenty of friends I can stay with

As a side note, I'm an algerian who lives in the US.

Hey zach ! here's your welcome parrot parrot and bunny bunny
I wish I could share my doubts with my parents like you did,I hope they won't kick you out by the way and that they'll open their eyes and heart to reconsideration of the whole "religion" thing.  Smiley

I wonder how is your relationship to your parents? Any siblings? How serious do you think they are about throwing you out? Are they religious themselves or is it more a cultural thing and you just culturally aren't allowed to throw the "I don't believe"-card?

Hey Zach. If your parents know about your apostasy and threaten to kick you out, then you're not really a closet atheist Smiley

I've never got how saying that someone can be born so and so. You don't come out the womb with an extensive knowledge of centuries of theology about all different subjects, religions and philosophical frameworks and then decide. No one is born believing in this god or that god, only to parents who believe in this god or that god and tell you your entire life its true. You rarely have a choice.
