Dear All,
I have found out about this forum through Maryam Namazie.
I converted to Islam nine years ago, but distanced myself from the religion (and any other religion) about two years ago. I still believe in God, but I don't believe in the religion anymore and would consider myself as somewhat "on the fence" at the moment. Before I explored the CEMB I didn't realise how many ex-Muslims there were and I would love to talk to you about your experiences both out of my personal situation and for the research I am doing.
I am currently doing a PhD on Muslim convert identites and am interested in hearing about "the other side" from people who left Islam, both ex-converts and those who grew up as Muslims. I worked with Muslim converts for my MA research, but now I am interested in both sides and in comparing what draws people to Islam and what makes people leave Islam.
I would be grateful to be given the opportunity to talk to some of you about your experiences informally and maybe conduct interviews.
I would also love to meet people and would be happy if you could tell me if there are meetings for ex-Muslims in London which I could attend.
