"One of the most influential Islamic "scholars" alive today, Yusuf Al-Qaradawi let something slip a few weeks ago, when he defended the death penalty for apostates from Islam by saying:
"If they had gotten rid of the apostasy punishment [execution] Islam wouldn't exist today, Islam would have ended since the time of the prophet...so opposing apostasy is what kept Islam to this day."
What an incredible admission from a senior associate of the Muslim Brotherhood, that it is only through the use of fear and terror that these charlatans, hypocrites, professional liars and frauds can maintain their privilege, power and control.
How ironic it is that those who best understand the plight of Ex-Muslims and others who have left religion are the Islamists and their equivalents. For they understand that what most threatens their inhumane ideologies is public knowledge of our existence. They know that what undermines their manipulative rhetoric and barbaric narrative more than anything else is the sight of doubters, intellectual dissenters, atheists, agnostics, humanists, secularists and heretics, getting on with our lives, free from their grasp.
In our very existence we demonstrate in the most powerful way that there is a viable alternative to the subservience, that the shackles of regressive political movements, inspired and excused by superstition and ignorance, can be discarded for a life of infinitely greater meaning, purpose, truth and beauty.
That is why they fear us, that is why they try to silence us, by murder, threats, intimidation, emotional black mail, social ostracism, vilification and slander. But they must understand this: it will not work.
We hold our human rights to be fundamental and inalienable, and reject all who attempt to steal them from us. We won't be silent in the face of injustice and deceit, we will speak freely without impedance, and those who object must come to accept this reality.
Those of us who have left religion and can say so publicly represent the many others who as yet cannot, the silent millions who Islamists like Qaradawi know about, and fear. They fear us with good reason, not because we make threats of violence, we don't and never will, but because it is us who expose them for what they are - peddlers of inhumanity, hatred, division and fear, and ultimately, unnecessary relics of a time since past."
