    this job was linked to on their facebook page and twitter feed. After the specifying of gender was brought to the attention of non muslims,  both links have now been removed

    Are these guys really that influential in the UK? I had never really heard of them until recently and I don’t know any American Muslims who take them seriously.

     I think the most obvious flaw of Hamza’s rhetoric is that the very philosophers and academics he quotes as proof of Islam’s supremacy were themselves not Muslims. Clearly their arguments and positions did not lead them to the same conclusions as Hamza.

    This, along with the whole “apostates should be killed” gaffe, only demonstrates how incompatible these Islamic groups are with secular values. Either they will have to dig in their heels and abandon the platform they are given by secular institutions, or they will have to admit that much of what Islam teaches is simply unacceptable.

    If they try to play the game by modern rules, they will lose.

    Are women not allowed to participate in dawah then? On youtube there are tonnes of dawah videos about women who converted to Islam. So I suppose they are allowed to be used as an example but not to actually do the dawah?

    I'd imagine the logic's rather straightforward; if women are to do dawah, it would only be to other women. Woman-on-woman dawah videos - or audio recordings, for that matter - are only going to titillate men (those ravening beasts), and so must only be viewed by other women. As ensuring segregated viewing is impossible over the internet, better to avoid sin than to cause it.

    I can't believe those women are ok with having their avatars be faceless placeholders...  Huh? and they wonder why Western women think they are a joke.

    There is no reason for any job to be gender specific, unless jobs that deal with touching complete strangers that may not be comfortable with being touched by someone of the opposite gender. Like Security pat downs, gynecologists etc.

    Also I love under the men's description it makes no mention of their jobs being gender specific. But under the women it's very clear that they are only able to do their jobs, towards and with women and no one else.
    DAFUQ.... it boogles my mind that Muslim women let men do that to them.

    Muslim women who support this kind of sexist, segregated tactic seem to believe they are being put on a pedestal by being kept apart from men. They seem to think that there is a glorification of their womanhood when they are treated differently from men. Orthodox Islam, like other gender-segregationist cultures, tends to enact sexist tactics by raising men and women to believe they live in separate spheres of existence, that they think totally differently, have totally different needs, and that the only time they should interact is within the domain of the family. That is the only place that women and men get to talk to each other, and even then, it is the men who are the "heads of the household" as the Muslim Brotherhood so clearly suggested in their recent statement.

    The really odd thing is why would a candidate for a creative assistant who primarily works from home be restricted by sex? Even allowing for the sensibilities of some Muslims, it still doesn't make sense.
