    Hey guys,

    Due to injuries I can't participate in combat sports Cry.

    But I wanted to create a thread where we can discuss the benefits of sports in regards to personal growth.

    In my personal experience competition can be a vehicle to look at ourselves honestly; we can see our ego, inclinations to avoidance and denial, and our temperaments in full force.

    It can be a vehicle to developing self-appreciation without social comparison. And to developing the mindset of using others superior abilities for motivation, rather than for self-reprenhension.   

    It can also be a vehicle to develop an appreciation and enjoyment of effort, rather than results.

    It's easy to intellectually agree with the the above, but when you're profusely getting your ass handed to you in competition - then you see how deeply you've internalized the above.

    Another great thing about sports is that it can motivate people to take care of their bodies.

    If you want longevity then you gotta have good nutrition, you gotta make sure your posture is efficient and as stress free as possible, and you gotta make sure your tendons, ligaments and muscles are healthy via strength training.

    I learned the hard way that not paying attention to developing good posture, and having a muscular imbalance will lead you to long term injury sooner or later.  yes
