That's a little silly. To me, that's one step forward having a list of official, "sanctioned" religions, and not recognizing the other. Well, I guess that's not what they meant, but I mean, anyone can claim that his "branch" of Christianity requires whatever he please.
I personally don't think I'll have any problem with wearing my faravahar, as next to no-one around here knows it's a religious symbol, (and I don't even wear it as such)
