The Muqaddimah: An Introduction to History  Translated by  Franz Rosenthal

A 1200 page book by  Abdurahman bin Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Al-Hasan bin Jabir bin Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Abdurahman bin Ibn Khaldun, generally known as "Ibn Khaldūn" after a remote ancestor,
    Quote
He was born in Tunis in AD 1332 (732 A.H.) into an upper-class Andalusian family of Arab descent,[8] the family's ancestor was, according to him, a Yemenite Arab who shared kinship with Waíl ibn Hujr, a companion of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. His family, which held many high offices in Andalusia, had emigrated to Tunisia after the fall of Seville to the Reconquista in AD 1248. Under the Tunisian Hafsid dynasty some of his family held political office; Ibn Khaldūn's father and grandfather however withdrew from political life and joined a mystical order. His brother, Yahya Khaldun, was also a historian who wrote a book on the Abdalwadid dynasty, and who was assassinated by a rival for being the official historiographer of the court.[14]

In his autobiography, Khaldun traces his descent back to the time of Muhammad through an Arab tribe from Yemen, specifically the Hadhramaut, which came to the Iberian Peninsula in the eighth century at the beginning of the Islamic conquest. In his own words: "And our ancestry is from Hadhramaut, from the Arabs of Yemen, via Wa'il ibn Hujr also known as Hujr ibn 'Adi, from the best of the Arabs, well-known and respected." (p. 2429, Al-Waraq's edition). However, the biographer Mohammad Enan questions his claim, suggesting that his family may have been Muladis who pretended to be of Arab origin in order to gain social status

...........THE POINT of this book is simple and rather direct: to provide a reader whose cultural and religious formation has been Jewish or Christian with a way of approaching the body of belief and practice called Islam. InThe MonotheistsI place Islam as an equal at the side of Judaism and Christianity and attempt, in considerable detail, to contextualize each with the others in the hope of illuminating all three. Here, the primary focus is Islam, and the other two monotheistic systems are cited only to the extent that they cast light on the faith and practices of the..........

..........THERE is only one way to approach Islam and that is to open and read from the pages of the Quran. The Muslim will prefer to hear it, but for the non-Muslim, the Muslim Scripture is almost always a book and not the “recitation” (al-quran) that its Arabic title announces it to be. It is by no means an easy read. The Quran, or Koran, as it is sometimes spelled, bristles with obscurities and ambiguities. Highly emotive poetry— or so it appears; the non-Muslim is normally relying on a translation, which is not very kind to poetry—........

..........ALTHOUGH if many of the figures mentioned by name in the Quran are familiar from the Bible, the rhythms of the Recitation are not biblical, even across translation: the style of the Quran is that of neither the Old nor the New Testament. And it is not merely the voices and rhythms that differ: the structure, themise-en-scènein which these familiar figures now appear, is different from their earlier presentations in the Scriptures of the Jews and the Christians. We are hearing something else in the Quran, a second, somewhat foreign accent we can discern, only after close inspection,...........

FROM the Christian perspective, Jesus is God’s final revelation, the fulfillment of what had earlier been promised in the Bible, and the meaning of that revelation unfolds in the events of his life as described in the Gospels. His followers accept only the four Gospels that the Church as a whole had received as authentic and believed were inspired: the four canonical Gospels are consequently regarded as veridical accounts of the great work of redemption. Muhammad’s life bears no such theological weight for Muslims. The Quran is the revelation, not Muhammad, who was merely its messenger, the mortal who delivered......

The Hidden Origins of Islam: New Research into Its Early History
by  Karl-Heinz Ohlig  and Gerd-R. Puin

    The authors   write  ....
    Quote
"Despite Muhammad's exalted place in Islam, even today there is still surprisingly little actually known about this shadowy figure and the origins of the Qur'an because of an astounding lack of verifiable biographical material. Furthermore, most of the existing biographical traditions that can be used to substantiate the life of Muhammad date to nearly two centuries after his death, a time when a powerful, expansive, and idealized empire had become synonymous with his name and vision-thus resulting in an exaggerated and often artificial characterization of the prophetic figure coupled with many questionable interpretations of the holy book of Islam."

    Quote
Horse of Karbala is a study of Muharram rituals and interfaith relations in three locations in India: Ladakh, Darjeeling, and Hyderabad. These rituals commemorate an event of vital importance to Shia Muslims: the seventh-century death of the Imam Husain, grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, at the battlefield of Karbala in Iraq. Pinault examines three different forms of ritual commemoration of Husain's death - poetry-recital and self-flagellation in Hyderabad; stick-fighting in Darjeeling; and the 'Horse of Karbala' procession, in which a stallion representing the mount ridden in battle by Husain is made the center of a public parade in Ladakh and other Indian localities. The book looks at how publicly staged rituals serve to mediate communal relations: in Hyderabad and Darjeeling, between Muslim and Hindu populations; in Ladakh, between Muslims and Buddhists. Attention is also given to controversies within Muslim communities over issues related to Muharram such as the belief in intercession by the Karbala Martyrs on behalf of individual believers.

The Devil and the Jews  by  Joshua  Trachtenberg

that is a good one to read....
    Quote
Trachtenberg was born in London but travelled to America at aged three. He received his rabbinical ordination at Hebrew Union College (1936), and went on to serve at multiple congregations. He worked in many areas of Jewish scholarship including a survey of religious conditions in Israel (1951–52), which was sponsored by the Central Conference of American Rabbis and the Union of American Hebrew Congregations.[1]

Trachtenberg was also active in the field of community work. In Easton he was the president of the Jewish Community Council (1939–46), and as an ardent Zionist, he was identified with the Labour Zionist movement.

His most notable work Jewish Magic and Superstition (1939, repr. 1961) was his Ph.D. dissertation at Colombia University. From this came another notable work The Devil and the Jews (1943, repr. 1966), which examines the relationship of the medieval conception of antisemitism to the modern variety. The contrasted with his earlier pieces, such as Consider the Years (1944) that was instead a history of the Easton Jewish community he had presided in.

In war our main objective is the opponent’s heart or soul, our main weapon of offence against this objective is the strength of our own souls, and to launch such an attack, we have to keep terror away from our own hearts… Terror struck into the hearts of the enemies is not only a means, it is the end itself. Once a condition of terror into the opponent’s heart is obtained, hardly anything is left to be achieved. It is the point where the means and the end meet and merge. Terror is not a means of imposing decision on the enemy; it is the decision we wish to impose on him.” (p. 59).............. Brigadier S. K. Malik

The Quranic Concept of War  by  JOSEPH C. MYERS

Joseph Myers take the words from the horses that ran Pakistan since its independence and puts them together to highlight the problems of Islamic scriptures( Quran +  hadith) and warfare ..

    Quote
The Quranic Concept of War, by Brigadier General S. K. Malik of the Paki-stani Army provides readers with unequalled insight. Originally published in Pakistan in 1979, most available copies are found in India, or in small non-descript Muslim bookstores.

One major point to ponder, when thinking about The Quranic Concept of War, is the title itself. The Quran is presumed to be the revealed word of God as spoken through his chosen prophet, Mohammed. According to Malik, the Quran places war fighting doctrine and its theory in a much different category than western thinkers are accustomed to, because it is not a theory of war derived by man, but of God.  This is God’s war fighting principles and commandments revealed .Malik’s attempts to distill God’s doctrine for war through the examples of the Prophet.

    Quote
Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti: Abū al-Faḍl ‘Abd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Bakr ibn Muḥammad Jalāl al-Dīn al-Khuḍayrī al-Suyūṭī[2] (Arabic: جلال الدين عبد الرحمن بن أبي بكر بن محمد الخضيري السيوطي‎; c. 1445–1505 AD) was an Egyptian religious scholar, juristic expert and teacher, and one of the most prolific writers of the Middle Ages of Persian[3] origin, whose works deal with Islamic theology. In 1486, he was appointed to a chair in the mosque of Baybars in Cairo. He adhered to the Shafi'i madhhab and is one of the latter-day authorities of the Shafi'i School,

Some of his more famous works were:[11]

Tafsir al-Jalalayn (Arabic: تفسير الجلالين‎, lit. 'Commentary of the Two Jalals'); a Qur'anic exegesis written by Al-Suyuti and his teacher Jalal al-Din al-Mahalli[6]

Al-Itqān fi ‘Ulum Al-Qur’an (translated into English as The Perfect Guide to the Sciences of the Qur'an, ISBN 9781859642412)

Al-Tibb al Nabawi (Arabic: الطب النبوي‎, lit. 'Prophetic medicine')

    Al-Jaami' al-Kabir (Arabic: الجامع الكبير‎)

    Al-Jaami' al-Saghir (Arabic: الجامع الصغير‎)

Dur al-Manthur (Arabic: درالمنثور‎) in tafsir

    Alfiyyah al-Hadith [12]

Tadrib al-Rawi (Arabic: تدريب الراوي‎) both in hadith terminology

History of the Caliphs (Tarikh al-khulafa)

The Khalifas who took the right way, a partial translation of the History of the Caliphs, covering the first four Rashidun caliphs and Hasan ibn Ali

Tabaqat al-huffaz, an appendix to al-Dhahabi's Tadhkirat al-huffaz

Nuzhat al-julasāʼ fī ashʻār al-nisāʼ (Arabic: نزهة الجلساء في أشعار النساء‎), 'an anthology of women's verse'[13]

Al-Khasais-ul-Kubra, which discusses the miracles of Islamic prophet Muhammad
    Wikisource-logo.svg Al-Muzhir. (linguistics).

look at that .....most of the stupid stuff in Islam must have come from the works such as   this one  .. Al-Tibb al Nabawi (Arabic: الطب النبوي‎, lit. 'Prophetic medicine') during medieval  times  from silly  story  books written by  fellows like  Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti
