You do realise that's just the standard and hominem attack mode that many Muslims go into, don't you, Yeez?

I've read 3 reviews of the book online by Muslims and all are just a long series of ad hominem: Oh he's mentally ill, he's a Christian, he's a Jew, he is ignorant, he doesn't understand, he is angry, sad, blah blah blah...

I honestly don't know who the author is, but after knowing him intimately through his words I would say he is exactly what he says he is, a Muslim who was once very devout but lost his faith. His knowledge of Islam is excellent and deep.

Either way the book speaks for itself. But as usual many Muslims prefer to attack the person rather than respond to the arguments.

LITERARY PAPYRI FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH ARABIC PAPYRUS AND PAPER COLLECTION
    by  William Matthews Malczycki

That is a  Ph. D. Thesis and I enjoy reading   Ph.D. Thesis more than I enjoy reading books  ..specially on religions and history..

    Quote
    ABSTRACT:

This dissertation is a description of the influence of Classical Arabic grammar on Arabic literature of the first three Islamic centuries. The main argument of this dissertation is that the appearance of Sibawayhi's Kitab in the late second / seventh century obfuscated all grammatical norms that predated it. The traditional description of the Kitab maintains that it is a grammar based on the purest Arabic from the Quran, the bedouin Arabs, and pre-Islamic poetry. This view holds that the work of Sibawayhi and the grammarians who followed him was preservative rather than creative. In other words, the traditional account holds that Classical Arabic grammar always existed, but it was not until Sibawayhi that someone collected it, analyzed it, and codified it.

If the traditional account is true, and if there has always been a Classical Arabic grammar, then one wonders why there are almost no papyrus texts from the early Islamic era that follow Sibawayhi's rules perfectly. It cannot be an accident that almost all early Arabic papyri contain elements of Middle Arabic, which is Arabic that is grammatically substandard compared to Classical Arabic. Scholars who adhere to the traditional view of the Kitab believe that the presence of Middle Arabic in the papyri proves that Arabic needed a scholar like Sibawayhi before it was irretrievably lost. However, what they have failed to take account of is that fact that there are almost no examples of what Sibawayhi defined as Classical Arabic in the earliest Arabic texts. Obviously, it cannot have been the case that history and fate preserved only those papyri that contained substandard Arabic and that all other texts have disappeared.

Therefore, there is reason to reevaluate the traditional account of the history of Arabic grammar in an effort to discover what might have defined proper grammar before Sibawayhi. In the course of this investigation, one finds that the affect of Sibawayhi's Kitab might have been more far reaching than has hitherto been assumed.

The World Muslim Population, History & Prospect by Houssain Kettani

Abstract: The birth of Islam over fourteen centuries ago was a monumental event in human history with an everlasting effect on humanity. For centuries researchers contemplated on the growth and distribution of Muslims throughout the World. The purpose of this manuscript is to present a reliable estimate of the World Muslim population since the inception of Islam at the start of the seventh century to the start of the twenty-fourth century. In this book, the World is divided into five continents, each is divided into non-overlapping regions, and these in turn are divided into current countries. A centennial data estimate for each region and current country from 600AD to 2300AD (approximately 1H to 1700H) of the total population, and corresponding Muslim population and its percentage is provided. Furthermore, the same data in decennial order from 1790 to 2100 (or 1210H to 1520H) is provided for each region and country. These data are summarized to be a reference for other studies and discussions related to the Muslim population. The presented data show that the percentage of World Muslim population with respect to the total World population has increased steadily from 3% in 700AD or 100H to 7% in 800AD or 200H, to 11% in 900AD or 300H, to 13% in 1000AD to 1200AD (or 400H to 600H). Subsequently, this percentage continued to increase at less than one percentage point per century, reaching 16% in 1700AD or 1100H. But it dropped to 13% in 1800AD or 1200H, to increase to 14% in 1900AD or 1300H. This percentage has been increasing by one percentage point per decade since 1950AD or 1370H, reaching 25% in 2020AD or 1440H. The rate of increase of the World Muslim population is expected to slow down, increasing their percentage to 28% by 2050AD or 1470H, to 32% by 2100AD or 1520H, to 33% by 2200AD or 1630H, then to 35% by 2300AD or 1730H

The Life, Teachings and Influence of Muhammad ibn Abdul-Wahhaab

    Quote
Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhab (/wəˈhɑːb/; Arabic: محمد بن عبد الوهاب‎‎; 1703 – 22 June 1792) was a Sunni Muslim preacher and scholar from Nejd in central Arabia who claimed to "purify" Islam by returning it to what, he believed, were the original principles of that religion as the salaf, that is first three generations of Muslims, understood it.

His movement is today often known as "Wahhabism", although many adherents see this as a derogatory term coined by his opponents, and prefer it to be known as the Salafi movement..

The descendants of Ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhab, the Al ash-Sheikh, have historically led the ulama in the Saudi state,[6] dominating the state's religious institutions.[ Within Saudi Arabia, the family is held in prestige similar to the Saudi royal family, with whom they share power, and has included several religious scholars and officials.
    Quote
The arrangement between the two families is based on the Al Saud maintaining the Al ash-Sheikh's authority in religious matters and upholding and propagating Salafi doctrine. In return, the Al ash-Sheikh support the Al Saud's political authority[  thereby using its religious-moral authority to legitimise the royal family's rule.

The New Cambridge History of Islam 6 Volume Set
The New Cambridge History of Islam is a comprehensive history of Islamic civilization, tracing its development from its beginnings in seventh-century Arabia to its wide and varied presence in the globalised world of today. The six volumes reflect the geographical distribution  and the cultural, social and religious diversity of the peoples of the  Muslim world. Four volumes cover historical developments and two are  devoted to themes that cut across geographical and chronological  divisions, ranging from social, political and economic relations to the  arts, literature and learning. Each volume's introduction sets the scene for the ensuing chapters and examines relationships with adjacent civilizations. Written by a team combining established authorities and  rising scholars in the field, this will be the standard reference for  students, scholars and all those with enquiring minds for years to come.

.......From the Middle Ages to the eighteenth century, the works of the Western Orientalists were dominated by anti-Muslim polemical attitudes, characterized by a low interest in the substantive content of the sources of Muslim historiography.1 This trend began to change gradually at the turn of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, when researchers started to notice the scholarly value of the early Arab-Muslim literature and searched for it with more attention. This approach (sometimes referred to as descriptive)2 was guided by three main methodological assumptions: that the text of the Qur’an possesses a documentary value relating to the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad; that the multitude of information contained in early Muslim chronicles  provides reliable material for the reconstruction of the course of historical events; and that −(Clicky for piccy!) Abstract

This paper focuses on FIFA's ‘hijab ban’ crisis, or the disqualification of the Iranian women's national soccer team from the 2012 Olympics because the players wore a head cover. Utilizing Arab, Muslim and anti-racist feminist theories, I analyze a colonialist and Islamist patriarchal alliance built on two gendering and racializing logics. I refer to these overlapping logics as ‘double hijabophobia.’ Both FIFA and Muslim-majority nations used medicalized and cultural notions of the hijab, safety and dress laws. Double hijabophobia denies Muslim women players their bodily integrity and excludes them from world football. This analysis also recognizes Muslim women athletes who are working to overcome colonialist and Islamist racializing and gendering logics in spor
