  • Writer Christopher Hitchens Dies
     OP - December 16, 2011, 05:26 AM

    Quote
The influential writer and cultural critic Christopher Hitchens died on Thursday at the age of 62 from complications of cancer of the esophagus. Hitchens confronted his disease in part by writing, bringing the same unsparing insight to his mortality that he had directed at so many other subjects.

So it seems his long argument with death has finally concluded. I'd love to read the transcript.

He's gonna be missed. But he's been missed by me already. His absence from the public sphere has been felt for a long time. I think a lot of people still sorta believed for a while at least that he'd return at some point. I think I did.

Now I just need to figure out if these tears are sad tears or in fact happy tears. They are certainly grateful tears. I am not the only one here who can say in all honesty that I am who I am now, a fuller and stronger person, in part due to Christopher Hitchens.

Give them Hell up there, Hitch.

Too fucking busy, and vice versa.

I wasn't a big fan of Christopher, I felt he was a subtle racist and recently started turning neocon. About 3/4 years ago I started to boycott his books, but after he was diagnosed with cancer and with the elegance he handled it with, it was hard not to respect him, and I actually started to like him. He lived a full life, getting pissed and smoking all the time, would have loved to party with him. Going to have a drink in his honour when I get round to it.

No one is unquestionable and  Hitchens is no exception to that rule.. People change  and   he changed a lot from an young leftist to the legacy he left at the end of his life.. True he was   a Bully  until the end.. But he was good bully and he changed for better during the life of his time..

I knew he will not live longer as the  Survival rates for esophagus cancer for people like Hitchens is extremely low ~2% and most fall for it with in 5 years. On top of that his father was also victim of  esophagus cancer.  But what is surprising was he was diagnosed with it in June 2010 and he left us in Dec 2011.,

That is so quick..  Any ways Yes   .   Hitchens will rest in peace and  he will be remembered for a long time to come .. His books, his debates .. his insults to fellows like that London Mayor The Cat will  live for ever and  even his fight with Cancer   will inspire many generations in near future.  Indeed he was one of the four Horse men of 21st century.  In this 21st century we need many more horse menon  web.. on TV and with books..   So yes we miss him but those of us who were inspired by his books/debates .. we got to carry on with his legacy
