Nice - thanks! I think I will check her out.

Yes I know Nancy Ajram, my son saw her at the Albert Hall a while ago.

I quite like some modern Arabic singers - but being from an older generation Wink I prefer the classic arab singers such as Omm Kulthoum, Fairouz, Abdul Haleem Hafiz, Farid al-Atrash (Oud) etc... Smiley

yes, I know 'em all quite good.....
Amr Diab too, and Haifa Wehbe, Asmahan, Eliss, et al.
Maybe I have some videos available, but I'll do that tomorrow, if you don't mind, here's Nancy!

    nancy ajram - "entah eh"

    "akhasmak ah"

    "oul tany keda"

Where are you from HE? I'm just curious as to why you like Arabic music?

Thats not such an easy question to answer, since I grew up in more than one country, according to my dad's job, we had to move a lot.
But to make it a bit more clear, I'm definitely european, living in Germany.
And according to my job, I also had to travel a lot, especially east, and therefor have seen quite a lot of islamic states, as well as I've met, stayed with, also lived with muslims, worked with muslims, and I have two foster-children from the mideast. Back home I had a persian girlfriend - Parvaneh [butterfly] - and I never had no whatsoever fears or phobia to come close to muslims, islam was NO issue at all, at no time, its all just people.
[Maybe that's why I react a bit overly sensitive, when somebody calls me a "racist"]

Besides of all that, I like a broad spectrum of music [being a musician too, the first love of my life] , from wherever, but also Arabic music, and why not.... [you should definitely get into Natasha Atlas]

Anyway, here's another old "gem", although not really "arabic"...
The "muslim madonna" [I'm sure you know this one...]

muslim madonna  -  plan of my own

And, weeeelll... this one is not really about music, but its music for my eyes... maybe....

This is for all of those people who like dance music. This is normally played at weddings and stuff.

I know diotima likes dance stuff so you might like this one.

I might even tell you what it is about but its not really something that i'd go and do.

I had pc problems a few weeks ago and couldn't stay connected when I tried to post music from this soundtrack. You have great taste in music!

I have the soundtrack to Last Of The Mohicans where I first heard this song. The movie is just plain awesome. The scenery, music, and story line blend together in absolute perfection. I listen to that and I can see him chasing Magwa through the paths up those rocks. And the fight.

And the (second to last) Mohican that Magua killed was one good looking guy too. I can still see him falling to his knees and slidding down that rock and off the cliff  Cry

Another good song from that soundtrack that's similar to this one, titled The Kiss:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy7WSIufQrc

There's another song from that soundtrack called Cora. This song always makes me feel very melancholy:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IE5uw782AYk

Any one else feel the same way upon hearing that song? It hits me in the heart for some reason.

    Holy crap!

I found the video on youtube of Uncas going to rescue his damsel in distress and dying at the hands of mean old Magua! How could he kill that good looking young chap?

Tell me this doesn't touch your heart.

The scenery is gorgeous. The credits say it was filmed in North Carolina, and other parts filmed in Canada. Any North Carolinians or Canucks here find this scenery fimiliar?

    Classic

I like the lyrics as well. I'm at stage 2.

Buddy you’re a young man hard man
Shoutin’ in the street gonna take on the world some day
You got blood on yo’ face
    You big disgrace
Wavin’ your banner all over the place

We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you

     Cool

Help comes when you need it most
    I'm cured by laughter
Mood swings, not sure I can cope
    My life's in plaster

May your mind set you free
May your heart lead you on
May your mind let you be through all disasters
May your heart lead you on

    These wounds are all self-imposed
    Life's no disaster,
All roads lead on to death-row
    Who knows whats after?

May your mind be wide wide open
    May your heart beat strong
May your mind's will be broken
    By this heart-felt song

May your mind set you free
May your heart lead you on
May your mind let you be - through all of distasters
May your heart lead you on
May your mind let you see through all disasters
May your heart lead you on
