not heard of the TAPI pipeline

There was a lot more than meets the eye regarding Afghanistan.

I am my own worst enemy and best friend, itsa bit of a squeeze in a three-quarter bed, tho. Unhinged!? If I was a dog I would be having kittens, that is unhinged. Footloose n fancy free, forced to fit, fated to fly. One or 2 words, 3 and 3/thirds, looking comely but lonely, till I made them homely.D

I thought most of American troops were there for security reasons, To prevent suicide bombers in public and extremists throwing acid at girls going to school? I really wish we would just leave Afghanistan and Pakistan to deal with their own issues.  Polls show Over 70% of Americans wants nothing to do with this lost cause war anyway, but the politicians stop listening to us because it's more complicated to just leave.

There were no suicide bombers before the invasion, not a single suicide bomber was used during the war against the Soviets and the civil war after (apart from the Al-Qaeda attack on Ahmed Shah Masood) whereas today they're everywhere, thanks to the invasion and Salafi jihadis. As for acid throwing.....its a sick 'weapon' used by sick people, the Taliban deny doing it, I have no idea who's behind it. How is leaving complicated?

That  wonderful funny Aphrodite  started this thread and missing in action from CEMB for a long time.. Anyways . with all these movies,  cartoons and burning Qurans., That cool hilly land locked country is going to be back in the news..  So   Mir Adnan Aziz write on that land and its possible future  with a heading History is for losers . I am not sure what it means but there are lessens one could learn from TRUE HISTORY.. Anyways  let me put some nuggets from his thoughts..

    Quote
.....It was in 2003 that President Bush, clad in Top Gun attire aboard the deck of USS Abraham Lincoln, triumphantly declared “mission accomplished” in Iraq. Hours later, Donald Rumsfeld declared victory in Afghanistan at a Kabul press conference with these words: “We clearly have moved from major combat activity to a period of stability and reconstruction activities. The bulk of the country today is secure.”

Well yes brainless Bush said., so where are we after 10 years so war?

    Quote
.........Masters at knowing themselves and their enemies, something perpetually elusive to their invaders and occupiers, Afghans have been the undoing of many great armies and powers. True to their history, they continue to be so, the latest in line being the US and its allies. President Bush, befuddled by the opiate that power is, unleashed Washington’s military juggernaut on Afghanistan. ‘History is for losers’ was his arrogant mantra. Today, as Washington frantically searches for a face-saving exit, history stands vindicated – as are those who opposed this war....

that is bull shit., Afghanistan was never a country with proper borders and governance., It was always war lords, thugs, kings and generals and recently Pakistan did it in the name of Islam and depth against Indians  ruled and wrecked that country the country
    Quote
.............The latest tactic unleashed on Western forces in Afghanistan is the crippling green on blue attacks. 45 Nato soldiers have been killed and an equal number wounded by their Afghan counterparts in the first eight months of this year alone. However, General John Allen attributes this to “Ramadan fasting combined with operational tempo during the summer heat”!

The conceived solution has been a ‘Guardian Angel’ programme. It tasks coalition soldiers to keep an eye on their Afghan allies in every meeting or joint mission with shoot to kill orders on the mere apprehension of such an attack. This knee-jerk reaction, given the ground realities in Afghanistan, is akin to closing the stable door long after the horse has bolted.

........A military uniform epitomises commitment, comradeship and professionalism and symbolises the willingness to sacrifice ones life. In a new twist, the rank and file of the Afghan National Army (ANA) and Afghan Local Police (ALP) have been infiltrated.

I agree with that ..AMRICANS  should have left and even now just leave that country as it is and let the dogs of Islam from borders of Pakistan rule that country, then the  heat will be on Pakistan/India and Iran/Russia/China all the way to turkey .. let those dogs of Islam occupy and rule those lands with Caliphate. Then all these countries will understand what Amrika did in Afghanistan.  Indeed Americans are fools  to spend their time and money to look after the country that was eaten by these so-called Islamic heroes.  The only thing Americans should do is Catch those thugs that are involved in 9/11 send them to their houries in allah god heaven and protect their borders and their freedom .. nothing more nothing less

    Quote
The announced withdrawal in 2014 shall expose both ANA and ALP to the burden of ensuring stability in Afghanistan. The occupation’s ‘grand’ exit strategy is based on Washington’s chant that, ‘when they stand up – we stand down’. Former Afghan Defense Minister, General Abdul Rahim Wardak’s solution to the green on blue dilemma was that “every soldier has to become an informer”. Anathema to any fighting force, how can an entity tasked with the seemingly impossible feat of raising its standard from scratch, stand up with this informer psyche encouraged amongst its ranks? Apart from this, a recent UN report ranks nine out of ten of the 350,000 strong ANA as illiterate and three in ten as drug addicts. The desertion rate, bane of any fighting force, stands at 60 percent. According to an ISAF finding, as of now, not a single ANA unit can operate independently. The spate of deadly green on blue attacks has led to a purge within the ANA and ALP. Measures are afoot to revalidate the credentials of all its members. Easier said than done, given the fact that for the majority of Afghans an identification card, driver’s license or a social security number are as alien as most facets of the Western way of life. In a country where written records are a rarity, the task itself is as daunting as it is seemingly impossible.

what nonsense is that?  well that is not the problem of Americans.. If you want take your country to 7th century Islam , it is your problem not theirs

Afghanistan is essentially a tribal society. The survival of an individual depends on the tribal code of conduct. Mosques, homes, funerals, jirgas, marriage parties, all symbols of this society, have been bombed by the occupation forces. Copies of the Quran have been burnt; dead bodies have been urinated upon, some have been savaged for war trophies. What else could be a more potent recipe for the ever-increasing deadly backlash? It is this reality that has molded Washington’s image as a cruel occupier rather than the saviour it never was but aspired to be.

bull shit, Afghanistan was never a tribal country., IT IS THE BORDERS OF PAKISTAN/AFGHANISTAN that are tribal.  This fool doesn't know recent history of Afghanistan., Well Russians occupied that land because idiots from Pakistan with American money and weapons created troubles In Russia using their Muslim population   and stupidity from Islam., So they came in to Afghanistan..  And the problems started right there ., Otherwise people of Afghanistan were far more educated than any other country until 70s  all the way to the rule of Mohammad Najibullah Ahmadzai  who was President of Afghanistan from 1987 until 1992. The Dogs of Islam from the mosques of  land of pure and its borders After Murdering this well educate Physician and Doctor with the support American/Saudi oil money ruined the country for ever and even today. and this fool talks about  funerals, jirgas, marriage parties , ANA and ALP., Tajiks, Hazaras, Uzbeks and what not..

This fellow talks nonsense .. there is neither history nor facts on Afghanistan in that article...

Here is one DOG of Islam playing havoc inside the Pakistan and training baboons in the borders of Land of pure..

Why do we wonder why the peaceful Bohra community was attacked two days ago in Karachi, killing seven including a 12-year-old girl? There is nothing especially enigmatic about this process. Nor is it difficult to work out how to begin the process of stopping it. The fact is that when we allow our most dangerous killers to walk free, knowing they will plan and organise other killings, there are bound to be more murders and more terrorist attacks. This is precisely what is happening. In July 2011 the Supreme Court of Pakistan granted bail to Malik Ishaq, perceived to be one of the most dangerous men in our country, on charges of plotting the 2009 attack on the Sri Lankan team – then visiting Lahore – from behind bars.

Ishaq, who had been in jail for 14 years, had already been acquitted in 37 cases and granted bail in eight others – the evidence no doubt blown away like fine dust as the years ticked along.  The fact that police believe Ishaq is involved in over 70 murders finally meant nothing; solid, irrefutable proof is of course required for life sentence or death penalty – as decreed under our country’s laws.

And through his long months in jail, it appears Ishaq was able to keep in touch with his men, and is thought to have orchestrated more deaths.During his incarceration, Ishaq, co-founder of the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) is said also to have studied and discussed how to expand it.  Following his release, when he was reported to have been greeted by some 15,000 people, mainly from the southern Punjab in his home town of Rahimyar Khan, he appears to have acted efficiently on this blue-print, helping to bring together and revitalise extremist forces in the south of his home province. ..
